Dear Fibaro,

In Juni, Apple announced that Fibaro will support Homekit. Yesterday they did another announcement stating that it support it now...

At least a communication towards your customers would be nice.

Am I missing something? Or are we talking about another Fibaro company with the same logo?

Thx

Dre

I'm also very interested to know if HomeKit is going to support Fibaro's HC2

yo Dre ... when Apple say "now", one can always add some days/weeks/months to real implementation, with Apple it is always the same, they only talking about "way", but the others (the rest of the world, meaning all the manufacturers/developers) have then to develop something.

Will be there HK support in Fibaro? Yes of course (just check their comments on FB or LI), and for sure will Fibaro take the chance to announce it (in a proper way) over all kind of social media etc., so simply be patient

Fibaro also has a history of announcing things and then not delivering on the promise.. See for instance over the air updates of sensors.. That took well over a year from promise to realisation. And as far as I know it works the other way with HK support.. I don't think Apple really cares about a small company in Poland. I think Fibaro said it would support HomeKit. So I think they should say when.

Problem with HomeKit is you need to include a chip certified by Apple to run it. Philips had to launch a new hub to support, so wonder how Fibaro will deal with this? Hopefully a USB stick perhaps that we can add to the HC2, but I have a feeling it may require new hardware that means a new box

Yup, and that issue has been raised before... Would be nice if Fibaro would care to answer it...

I also would be interested to know.  I could, possibly, justify a new box, if the old box could be drowngraded to act as a gateway to the new box.  And then the combination of both would work seamlessley with HomeKit...... one could dream anyway.

The answer is HC3 and HCL2, but when...

Anyway that train AH for me is of no interest any more because Fibaro is just good enough. Regarding voice recognition for us from small countries with strange languages there is nothing in the sight even in the far future except if we don't something about it ourselves.

I manage somehow to teach TTS Italian women to speak Croatian and it is nice and funny when she read to us todays weather forecast or status of the house or wishes us good night

HC2 works excellent with HomeKit

With Homebridge you can ask Siri to control most of Fibaro devices and VD

Right now without raspberry pi (homebridge) Home app is adding only Hue bulbs and that's all.

After installing homebridge  (on raspberry pi) I've got them all.

Siri even understands Polish name of scenes like BRAMA or POGODA and there is no Polish speaking Siri.

What app are you using on your iOS device to control Fibaro ?

I managed to install Homebridge on Raspberry, I added Fibaro plugin. Homebridge on Raspberry looks to get rooms and devices from Fibaro.

I tried it with few apps from the App Store. They  asked for the PIN of home bridge, then said Homebridge on Raspberry is not compatible, but I agreed to connect to it.

Then I saw rooms of my Fibaro but none of the devices.

I would appreciate if you elaborate a bit more on Application on iOS and how you paired it with Homebridge on Raspberry.

Did you do anything special to have your devices imported to iOS app ?

How you control Fibaro using SIRI ?  -  This is my main point to play with Homebridge and Raspberry.

Thank you in advance for any hint on this ...

Comment: If you prefer you may be in touch with me in Polish.

ad 1 What app are you using on your iOS device to control Fibaro ?

The eve - elagato app

ad 2 I tried it with few apps from the App Store. They  asked for the PIN of home bridge,

PIN: ""031-45-154"

You have to edit config.json on raspberry pi and enter hc2 user and pass

You have to just enter PIN than you have all devices in elgato eve app or home app on ios10

ad 4 How you control Fibaro using SIRI ?

Using devices in app I have created (inside elgato eve app) scenes and I use it like this - Siri, "turn on BRAMA”

It's tricky because In some cases scenes names are already reserved in HomeKit

Proper name give you possibility to  just say "POGODA" or "BRAMA" to trigger scene.

Kamol_ ,

Thank you for your reply.

I had propelry edited config.json file with PIN and Fibaro credentials.

I tried Eve-Elgato app. It, same as few others, finds Homebridge on Raspberry, asks to enter PIN, and after that says It could not add accessory as it could not connect with it.

Any idea ...

Try to delete the persist folder (on raspberry pi), restart homebridge, delete homekit data in iOS and then redo the pairing.

It did not help.

I will see what they uncover with IOS 10 ...

Just updated iPhone 6 to iOS 10, but home app is not finding anything? Fibaro, what's the deal?

Posted (edited)

Probably is not working right now. Apple say that devices that have "Work with iHome" or something like that on them, will work with the app .

P.S: I just tested homebridge and is working nice with Siri. I used "devices" app from app store.

Update

And now I just installed ios 10 , and the Home app is working with homebridge.

Homebridge works very nice indeed. Would be nice if Fibaro integrated it in their HC2 and HCL.
