HC2 constantly drops internet connection

Question

Posted

Hey all

I just got my new HC2 a few days ago.

my modules are all configured in the system,

My problem is that my HC2 is dropping (and after a few min. reconnecting) the internet connection (the 3rd light on the device turns off)

when there is no internet connection I can't connect to HC2. not from PC browser and not from the phone/tablet app.

Any help will be welcome

Same issue here and now I can not reach the app or site anymore to make changes or run anything. The motion sensor still works.. so the HC2 is working. I just can not use anything anymore... annoying..

@fantastrick ok,

next try

use google dns in the hc2 8.8.8.8

if that doen't work, shut down the hc2 en ping the hc2 ip, it might be that there is another device in you're home using hte same ip adres

I wish i could change the DNS. That would mean I could reach the settings page. I can not acces anything via browsers or app(s). Nothing.

It's there. The LED's burn. Like a ghost in the dark...

Fibaro Finder worked. Found the HC2 under a different IP. This while I have fixed IP on in the Fritzbox.

Connected to new IP. Loading took a loooooong time but no succes.

@fantastrick remove the fixed ip on the fritzbox, then restart the hc2 and find the hc2 with fibaro finder

It is...

Something I notice now in Fritzbox.

It says the HC2 is working, but does not have an internet connection.

Image 1 shows a receiver on the wifi (world image) and below is the HC2 (Green light)

And...

The Fritzbox shows 1xx.xxx.xxx.71

The Fibaro Finder 1xxx.xxx.xxx.81

uhm...

The hc2 is using a differant ip adres then the fritzbox thinks, so the return traffic does not reach youre hc2

The question now is.. how can I solve this...

Ok. Solved.

What happend was, of course, a mix of things.

The IP address of the HC2 and the Fritzbox were different from each other. The HC2 got an IP range outside of the range of the fritzbox. How? No clue.

The IP address was so close to the existing one that I misread it as being outside of the range. So this should be solved by resetting the IP.

How? I had some help:

HC2 connected to laptop with LAN cable

Set IP on laptop to:

IP-adres >>IP THAT WAS OUT OF RANGE<<

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: >>IP THAT WAS OUT OF RANGE

DNS 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8

After that you can connect to the HC2 on the IP OUT OF RANGE and set the IP back to the one in range.

And now... it works!
