on e.g. Raspberry PI or docker, but options that it provides is still unbeaten by other solutions. Also I updated my S2 system with latest updates and is still working flawlessly. Not to mention that it is also possible to send TTS messages to the Sonos, so your home can speak to you :-)

Regarding Spotify playlists, you can add playlist to Sonos favorite playlists and then activate it or directly from Spotify, all available commands that can be send from your code are listed and explained in provided user manual.

 

For HC2 there is also this solution that also provides Sonos API Player VD:

UHAS not only provides control over your Sonos system, but it is a comprehensive and yet easy system to setup that can do most of the automation needed. It also provides virtual devices to automatically control Sonos music and volume over the day and also playing your favorite news station at specified times. Besides that with its Advanced Notification Center (ANC) all possible messages generated by your home can also be sent to Sonos to speak to you. You can select which messages will be sent to which Sonos speaker and at what volume.
