Switching networks when app is open

Question

Issue 3 of the day is a real bug-bear for me.

The fibaro mobile app is excellent for my requirements but it's not stable...always.  I run this on an Samsung S7 edge currently on the beta 7.x firmware however this was the same on 6.x and I know on an older S4 I had the same issue with stock firmware.

Scenario:

App is open, working fine.  I then switch networks whether its going from wifi to 4g (mobile/cellular) or changing wifi networks for instance when I go from my house into the car which has a hotspot.

When this happens, the app will do one of two things.  Either it will crash out in which case when you re-launch, it opens and then closes and does this for about 10-15 times or it will disconnect and say it can't find fibaro.

I have to then kill the app or sometimes even reboot.

Why can't it run seamlessly between connections?  I almost want it to ping the box constantly leaving a constant connection and if it can't find it, to keep trying until it does.  I know I do not lose connection to a network for long - it will be a split second but this should not then cause this much issue.

The problem related to the above is for instance if I open the gates from the fibaro The Button from inside the house.

Get into the car, wireless hotspot fires up and mobile goes onto that automatically...but the app is already open (and sometimes it is closed too but then won't open for ages until it's happy with the connection - yet other apps work fine)

I then press close to the gates as I drive out...app then crashes out or disconnects.

I then have to wait 2-3 minutes sometimes to sort it out so I can close the gates at which point I give up and close them via the keyfob for the gate.

When this happens, the fibaro module then thinks the gates are still open so then I have to close them when I get a chance at work or when I am stationary...just really long winded.

Thanks :)

Hi @aj84,

Can you sometimes take little bit of your time to search forum and read posts? I'm sure you will find interesting information maybe even solutions for your problems. You are not the only one with this problem and you are not the only one who's time is precious. Please don't find yourself offended with my comment but it is really tiresome to repeatedly read same questions and same problems from different people and answer again and again same answer. Try that search box on the top of this page, you might find it actually quite helpful.

I appreciate your comments in the other thread but this one I have to say I don't :- )

Being a developer, I do know about the search however it only works when tagging is correct (in my case, I didn't tag any of my threads), language and spelling are the same, indexes are correct and so on.  There is a huge language barrier on here which is one of the reasons I've dealt with vesternet over this forum but equally a huge knowledge bank on here in people.  If I had access to a support line, I would have used that given how much the kit costs.

But further to this, I have been monitoring the forums recently and yes I've done a search in the past only to bring really one thread...from Dec 2014 as per below...with no solution.  Doesn't hurt to remind developers that there are issues still outstanding clearly.

The mobile section only has 14 pages so I ended up going through all 14 but the older it got, the less reliable the information was unless things really do not change with Fibaro releases for years on end in which case my frustration slowly turns into regret
