Setting up Lite Controller

Hi, I am new to the Fibaro world, just got my Home Lite controller with wall plugs and smoke  detectors etc.

The system installed ok, all the actors/sensors are up and running but I am a bit stuck how to configure the controller to do what I want.

The system is installed in a cabin in the mountain and shall be used to keep the cabin warm around 9 degrees C when it is empty and remotely be put to comfort temperature 20 degrees C before we arrive to the cabin.

In addition to this also turn on/off motion and door magnet detector as intrusion alarm.

The plan is to use the temperature sensor in the smoke detector to control the Wall plug to turn off/on heating to keep the cabin to the temperatures 9 or 20 degrees.

I am not sure how to set this up, shall I use Scenes or Events or is it another way to do this?

I would like to have a “handle” in my Android app setting the cabin to empty/9 degrees or warm/20 degrees and another handle to set the alarm off/on.

I would also like to control and adjust the temperature in the cabin when we are there in the Android app.

Anyone who can point me in the right direction?

@smarthytte have you checked out fibaro e learning tutorial pages? Under knowledge at forum header.

 

This can all work with a number of easy block scenes and your phone app.

Have a play getting some simple scenes to work first and go from there.

The only way to learn is playing around and then you can post for help if you get stuck.

There are also some great youtube tutorials on block scenes you can check out.

you can use the heating panel if the wall plug is a fibaro one

I want to try to help you, I use the self-similar systems.
As @spazpeker mentions will heat panel be really good to use.
Finally you can create a VD that you can put in the holiday mode, ie the temperature in the cabin must have when you are not there. The overwrite heat panel table and keeps eg "9 degrees."
Just ask and I will post pictures, etc.

Hi, I will be grateful if you can assist me, I have watched some videos and elearning at Fibaro page and start to understand a bit more but are still somewhat confused.

All the equipment by now is Fibaro sensors/actors

You say that Heating panel is a good way and also mention VD, is that a Virtual Device?

Can you post some screenshots on how to set this up using Heating panel?

How will this work in the Android app after it is set up?

I plan to use the built in temperature sensor in the smoke detector to read the temperature to control the heating, is it better to buy a thermostat for this or will it work well with the smoke detector to keep the cabin around 9 degrees when empty and lift it to 18 before arrival?

I want the cabin to always be around 9 degrees C when we are a away an remotely lift the temperature to 18 degrees before we arrive in the cabin.

When we arrive at the cabin I want to turn the cabin ON so the built in thermostats in the heating controls the temperature ( the cabin can`t be to technical to use for my wife/family)

So, another issue, the temperature sensor in the smoke detector is very slow/does not send update on temperature changes, is there a setting that is wrong? I have tried to compare with the other smoke detector in the installation and all the settings seems to be the same except wake up interval set to 0 and 21600.

Last question by now, I want to measure outside temperature also and this can be as low as -30 degrees C, I want a solution with the electronics inside and sensor outside able to function/measure as low as -30 and the plan is to use the Fibaro Universal Binary sensor with power supply connected to temperature sensor DS18B20 with cable. Is this the best way to solve the issue or is there a better way? Is it better to communicate in the forum or directly by mail

As you mention is the temperature gauge in the smoke detector probably not good.
I do not smoke detector, but there are probably six hours of it being updated and it is certainly not suitable for your use. Maybe someone else can answer it. I use a motion sensor "eye" and make it to update the temperature every 10 minutes. it provides a very long battery life.

1 - Yes VD is a virtual device.
2 - You must link the temperature gauge with wall plug in the "Connected devices"
3 - Create a heating panel and select the room.

"Normal" is the table in the heating panel.
"Ferie" is holiday mode, ie 15 degrees constantly when I'm not home.
"20 degrees" is 20 degrees all day.

I think Binary sensor and temperature sensor will be a great way to measure the temperature in your case.
I think it's fine here on the forum, others may use it, or correct if there are better options.
Hope it is to understand my "google English".

Hi, thanks again.

I have set up the Heathing panel as the normal situation but so far stuck on how to use VD to set up the Holyday and 20 degrees preheathing mode.

I don’t quite understand how to configure VD and connect it to 20 degrees and holyday mode.

It asks for String to send and IP address when I try to set up VD.

I have set up the Fibaro Universal Binary sensor with power supply connected to temperature sensor DS18B20 with cable and this is so far working ok.

Hi, no I dont know what base 64 is, when I google it I se it is a form of programming but I have never done this.

Do you have to use this programming to be able to use VD to control Heating panel as described?

After generating a string with your own username and password, copy it and paste it in VD.

Username and password: (in red brackets) are replaced with your own base 64 generated.
150: standing in brovserlinien when you heat panel open.
"Udestue": replaced with your own name on the space.
0: means that it is the skema that is active.
eg 17: means constant 17 degrees.

 

If in VD is one incorrect character, or one gap wrong, so it does not !!

 

IP address and TCP port must be the same as in the picture.

No, I do not think it's too hard. 
Select "ad or remove device" and import virtual device.
Import VFib file and you can recognize the images in your new virtual device.

I am trying to find out how to set this up,

What is name of the space, the name of the heating panel or the name of the rooms?

in the android app it shows the temperature measured to the left and the temperature in the basic heating panel next to it, will this change regarding to the 3 states using the VD settings?

when I press the 2 alternative holyday settings they dont change , where can I se if it works?

"Udestue" is the name of heatingpanelet (that I had probably not written entirely true).

In android app. It is still an option. Clicking where the temperature is displayed, and put a check next to eg 24 degrees.

Then to the right of temperaruren, "Time to finish" choose eg 2 hours. So the system will heat up to 24 degrees for 2 hours, and then go back to the table.

 

Here the "Varmepumpe" set to "16 grader ferie" and Varmepumpen sits in the "Udestue"

Ok, so there is no way to see in the app or web GUI if the 2 holydays status are activated?

How can I find out if the VD works?

The first VD I made cost sweat (and tears), and it lasted 14 days before I got it to work
But when you just got one to work, take the only copies of most.

 

Here is 16 degrees constant temperature active (holiday mode)

Only one holiday status at a time, per room.

I have put inn correct username/pw and ID from browser. 150 was wrong.

Can I see somewhere in the browser GUI or in the Android APP for mobile phone when the 9 degrees Holyday is activated?

my username is email but I wonder if I also saw another username, any comment?

 

I still can see if the VD works anywhere

In the template I imported there was a gap after the pw string:

 

a280Mw== 0x0D0x0A0x0D0x0A

 

but in what you sent me last there isn`t.. I have tried both with no luck.

This is in now:

Hello again, I start to wonder if the VD works... it looks like the temperature follows the changed settings but there is no place I can really se the status and there is no trace in  event log of the changes, i suppose there should be?
