[SOLVED]Family member's remote access

Question

Posted

Hi!

Can there be more than one user with remote access? I have configured different users on the HC2 but only the administrator has remote access from the Iphone application. iOS APP "Conexión Error"

Thanks!

There should not be a problem.

Fibaro ID must be same for all users, that use your Home Center, meaning, they have user account there. It's because one Home Center can be under one Fibaro ID account.

Then you should be able to connect with every user, that you have created in your Hoome Center

First In GUI, in configuration --Access control you have to add the user then their ios phones and then under each user assign them rights to the scenes, devices etc you want them to access

    I have the same problem.
I have a superuser (me) and three other users. I can not get remote access for the other three users in my system.

A Fibaro HC2 can only be connected to one Fibaro account and I need a Fibaro account to connect to my HC2 remotely.

How am I supposed to be able to connect all my users to the HC2 remotely?

    Is this even possible?

    Best regards

So in order to have your family connected remotely, you share one Fibaro ID but have different local credentials.

What does this mean? How can they use different credentials?

The only log in method is fibaro ID. And this give all my family members all the access rights because this is my admin user. Besides, I do not want to give all family members this password witch means that I am the only one who can login on there phones. So if they somehow get logged out while I am not there they can not log in again.

when you create an account for them, under your Fibaro ID, you set their account to "hotel mode." this allows them to use only certain scenes, devices, and/or VD's.  again, they can use them, they just cant edit them or edit admin data.  its normally used for when rooms, where a tablet for example is mounted on the wall in a bedroom, they can only control whats in that room.

I have never experienced it but yes, it is the only disadvantage.

    Different local accounts.

You have two-step login now. First you provide your Fibaro ID account, then you log in to your Home Center on a local basis.

@I.Srodka, why not to have function "invite user", like Fibaro intercom has, but this one could be for HC2? With that family member could have it's own Fibaro ID and login to HC2.

For family members, that could be great. You could monitor if your Mother-in-Law is comming ;).

@I.Srodka, I have an android phone and if I log in with the Fibaro ID I get all the access directly (app version 1.18.0.1, latest att the time of writing). There is no two-step login in the android app.

If I log in on the net with a web browser I always have to log in with the Fibaro ID first and then then local login. But this do not help because my family members do not have the fibaro ID password.

I cant fint any instructions in any manual about the Fibaro android app and how to use it.

I love the app! It is very easy to use except for the user control part.

@matt1981, the hotel room part works OK but only if I am on the local wifi. Not if I log in remotely using the app.

    Hi @Ridesjo!

First of all, hotel mode doesn't work via remote access (@matt1981).

Ridesjo, make sure you have some local users created. Check their privileges.

As far as Android app is concerned, remove all HCs, clear cache data, clear any temp files, refresh network data, then log in with your Fibaro ID and then, second login screen should concern local logging.

    @I.Srodka, yes thanks! :)

That did the job, it is now working.

    Thank you I.Srodka!

Hi, good that this topic is up again.

Its a really big thing to have to share master Fibaro ID and password with every user, (event though you need 2 factor ID to get access (i don't use it) its really something that can be improved.

What would be fantastic is a "Guest" Fibaro ID that we can share with family, friends etc that have a different (or same) email but with a different password other than the master Fibaro ID account.

This way we can easily share Fibaro ID and control access with user credentials, not affecting everyone if we need to change the Master fibaro ID account.

And as a second thing, when a user uses "Guest" Fibaro ID, (or master ID) give the possibility of restricting external user access inside the Access control panel.

Remote Access = On/Off for every user.

These are 2 changes that would be fantastic to implement!

Allthough I cleared up the settings from a local user, i can not get them to login the HC2 outside of the local network.
There should be a more easy procedure to let them login...

So if I am clear, for the local users other then the admin, I should do the following ? :

    - Clear their settings,
    - fill in the Fibaro ID from the admin
    - fill in their local users account ?

Still getting an error that there is no network available ?

    [edit]

Too stupid... I am used to use the email adress as login, but local users, just use a username (NO email)
That is where it went wrong..

Still I think it is strange that I have to give out the Fibaro ID for the admin and then make a connection with the local out...
you always want to keep the master ID save...

Please clarify this for me. I want to give my wife and father a separate access to the app through cloud so that they always have access and especially for geofencing to unlock our door when arriving home.

when logging in to the mobile app I'm only asked for the fibaro ID, not the user ID. how is this supposed to be configured to work so that she can use her own account to access the mobile app?

@Ofosse, take a look at I.Srodka post as shown below.

This worked for me. I do not like the way it is being done because I have to have the phone in my own hand to enter the Fibaro ID before the other users can login with the local account.
And when I change the Fibaro ID password as Fibaro want's me to do I have to go thru the hole process again. But at least it is possible, and for now I am happy with that.

Maybe a newbie question here: is it possible to remotely access the HC2 without using the Fibaro server?

In case the server is down, remote access is lost?

@Papat, i suggest VPN if you want secure access. Don't use port forwarding, unless you like to live dangerously.

Hello! I learned after a while that you have to login to home.fibaro.com and click on the > and add a user, and that user has to have a fibaro id, and after that, that person have remote access =)

This is not the same as letting your own users of your home center get remote access. This is for example to be able to share two completely different home centers with each other. Although this has many advantages, it does not help the members of the family to get remote access unless all of them have their own home center :-)
