Secondary controller vs gateway device

Hello,

can anyone let me know differences between setting a controller as a secondary controller?

 

For example I have an HC2 in one side of building and other in other side to extend range, if I set one primary and other as secondary they act as one?

if a command sent from primary HC2 same command is sent also to zwave network from secondary controller?

 

gateway controller I understand how work, is separate zwave network and combine in same user interface.

Gateway connections: IP connection between controllers. Great for big projects (2 - 4 controllers). Separated Z-Wave network.

Secondary controllers: Z-Wave connection between controllers. Z-Wave notwork of one controller should join to primary controller. But, i did not made it running .

I made a few attempts, around 10, between HC and either RaZberry or Sigma controller (Aeon Stick) and I would summarise it as follows: "it is a mess". I never attempted HC-HC secondary controller. I know, "it is a mess" is not a very scientific summary... I recommend the topic below, to have a longer version of my answer, and also read explanations from other users:

@petergebruers, if i was not ready for factory restore (added only few devices int HCL) i would not call it mess, but disaster .
