Fibaro Wall Plug burned up

gabaldos

Question

Hello community,

I bought a fibaro wall plug last year and have used it to measure the power consumption of various devices (computer, reading lights, fridge, etc).

Recently, I used it to measure the consumption of the AC unit (about 1000 W) and, while it was still functional, one of the sockets had completely fused with the AC plug, and I had to really pull to separate them.

The plug was a type F Schuko, FIBEFGWPF-102, and supposed to be able to handle loads up to 2500W.

I will be returning it since it's still covered by the warranty.

Do you know if the new model (Gen 5) has this issue?

Hi @gabaldos

The value 2500 W is not enough to describe energy completely.

There are disclaimers in all

Power output (for resistive load): 2.5kW at continuous load

In case of loads other than resistive please observe cosφ and, if necessary, use load lower than rated. It is recommended not to exceed 3A for 250 V AC, cosφ=0.4.

AC is rather not a resistive load. It may be resistive only to some extent.

Also, could you post the picture of your AC's rating plate?

    Interesting.
Can you please add a photo of the male connector that you used.

I will post a photo when I get home.

Usually it happens  when you have intermittently (loose-fitted ) connection between male and female connector.

Please check your connectors  and make sure they are tight.

    See attached illustration (US plug)
