Cinema Scenes

Question

Posted

Brand new here...

Setting up a small Cinema.

My wish; Push the "button" and the room goes into cinema mode, Light dims, projector turns on and the screen goes down.

What do i need to get this to work? From fibaro and other hardware .I have not bought a projector or a screen yet, so i am open for suggestions.

The only thing i have is Sonos in this room so far.

Thanks for any help :)

I have such a Home Cinema.

The question is what you really want. What you describe is not really comfortable in my eyes.

Light, Sound and Beamer should be imho seperatly switchable. In my experience it is very comfortable to enter the home Cinema take a seat when lights are on. Or you leave for restroom an can switch on light seperatly or somebody dropped something and is searching on the floor.

I use one Fibaro Wall Plug FIBEFGWPF-102-5 to turn on and off the receiver, media pc, blueray Player, HD Kabel-Receiver.

I use one Fibaro Wall Plug FIBEFGWPF-102-5 to turn on and off the beamer. It needs a little time for the fan so it has a delay of 15 minutes tu cut of electricity.

I use one Fibaro Switch FIBEFGS-213 for the light.

I use one Remotec Scene Master REMEZRC90.

What I have on my to do list is an infrared to IP transmitter because the beamer ist infrared controlled. Right now I have to turn on and off the beamer with the original handcontroller.

my cinema room consists of

greenwave power node 5 - this is a 5 gang socket lead which controls the 5 sockets independently

this is connected to

projector

amplifier

sub woofer

kira module

spare

i have modules on my blinds

i have rgbw spot lights

1 have cinema room central light

i then run scenes to close blinds, turn off lights, set the rgbw spots to a lighting level and turn on my AV equipment.

the media player then adjusts the light levels of my RGBW spots depending on whether i press 'play', 'pause' or 'stop'

so it really does depend on what equipment you have and what you actually want to do.

I have a harmony remote aswell which integrates into this aswell.

the projector screen can have a fibaro relay added to activate the 'open' and 'close' functions as long as there are external connections available.

thanks

    Thx for swift replies!

Mib; It is not that i need to have it all run on the same switch, it most definitly can be controlled individually with each their own controller, that would be a better solution.

Can you give me a example on a IP to IR Transmitter that works well with Fibaro? It would be nice to not have to use the remotecontroll to turn on the projector and make the screen go down.

Morpheus; How do you get your mediaplayer to adjust lights?  As mentioned i do not have any equipment yet ( other than sonos ) but is hoping for any suggestions on equipment that will communicate easy with fibaro and other devices.

I understand that it can be controlled from a tablet etc, but it would been so nice to only have to push a button and everyting is set.......

    Thanks again

i have a Kodi media player which has a plugin that controls lights.

also the media player can control the hc2 using the remote aswell.

IP to IR is global tech icache which is a good unit.

i have created scenes for my different scenarios eg watching movie or watching satellite etc and that then runs the different devices and runs the relevent harmony activity

I run the same setup as @morpheus75 with the addition of google home integration with Kodi and Fibaro. this allows me to use voice commands to turn on the TV, play movies from my Plex library by name and switch TV channels by either Chanel number or channel name.

e.g. "Ok Google, play gone in 60 seconds on living room TV" or "OK Google switch Living Room TV to channel 7" or "Ok Google, Living Room TV Volume 80%"

IMHO, Voice control is a must in the theatre (or any room for that matter).

    Hi

Sorry I forgot to mention I have Alexa aswell but I haven't fully integrated it to play a specific movie via voice.

I usually say Alexa turn on movie mode to initiate my scene only.

I would like to know how to voice command kodi, if you know how. Thanks

    Thanks!

What about the Screen, do you know any screens that can be connected directly to a Fibaro device, or to we need to use the IP to IR here also?

If you get a motorized screen you should be able to control it directly, using the roller shutter from Fibaro. Not much 'difference' between a garage door and a rolled screen. But if a rolled screen is what you want? I would go for a high end not-rollable screen.

If you have the possibility then avoid a rollable screen. Go for a high end not rollable screen.

Even better no screen - use a wall with special paint and you never have wrinkles.
