Stuck at "Starting Services", HC2 4.170

Question

Hello Community,

Recently, I updated my HC2 from 4.160 to 4.170.

Today, HC2 stopped responding to zwave sensors, I was able to login to web interface and see that.
CPU and Memory were all fine, even I think CPU was a little bit calm than usual.

As usual in such a case of "block", I went to Configuration and clicked Restart.
Unfortunately, my HC2 never come back operational.
Tried restarting it several times, every time same, stuck at "Starting Services".

I see HC2 is responding to ping.
Also I observe continuous z-wave led flashing first 4-5 minutes after restart.
Than only the three right led stay on.

After 4.16->4.17 update, I had added few Fibaro Door/Window 2, configuring other old devices, also.
Also upgraded a few Heat Controllers to 4.3 firmware (was pain).

I am not sure if it was before or after the update, but I also added around 10 Fibaro Roller Shutter 2.
The setup was working fine for around a week since now.

I have around 50 physical devices, mostly Fibaro ones. A few VDs and Scenes (being there since 4.14)

Does anyone has any suggestions apart from reset and restore procedures?

Can it be ZWave Services (or soem other system ones) refuse to start due to some reason and the UI also waiting upon them, staying at "Starting Services"?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello, I have the same. Again, I previously regained it by recovery. Now I have reported to the support because it's a thicker case. Here are the screenshots of errors.

Last night I attached VGA and can confirm absolutely same startup screen errors occur with my HC2 as with @raffsa 1:1

Wow, nice to hear it, @raffsa

I already wrote yesterday to Fibaro via support email. So far no response.

How you used to contact support? How long it took them to respond and fix?

@chapa

I wrote an email, but I also called, at 16 I got an e-mail that it's ok. And the software department is already working on it

More than 24 hours without response to two support emails. I am starting to worry again.

I hardly remember a paid service, where I had to wait more than 24 hours for support in a mid work week, even not high priority one, even not as expensive services.

Here we have an emergency for a product, which costs 500 eur on its own! Come on Fibaro...

Hope my time will come tomorrow.

Hmmm...Been on 4.170 since 7th April and so far working fine. Praying hard my HC2 is not encountering this. Last night after attempt to update firmware of Single Switch 2 which failed, it seems odd that I am not able to trigger scene using widget. This morning tried to perform a backup but it stuck at starting backup for >15 mins. Perform a hard reboot and now it is stuck at 'Starting Services' for last 5 mins.

Praying hard...

Hello, I believe I have the same problem. has there been a resolve? WIfe if on my case we can't control the lights that last couple weeks.

I can confirm i have the same problem by connecting the screen.

I also get a starting period command schedular: cron failed at the end of the above.

I rebooted and that fixed it. (happenly)

Buttttttttttt:

I am Affraid to make a back up again,

-1st local back up whiped everything ou

I did not understood what happend so I added 4 devices and made a local back up

-2nd time my HC2 was empthy again

I made a few back ups while 2 times the system was hanging.

I am almost finished with the whole set up so if this error comes back I am softly spoken NOT amused.

The importancy of back up I understand ( my laptop backs up instantly every changed file when I am at home into two different drives.

Now I am affraid

Mine has also done this and is stuck. Is there a fix?

1/Prove it isnt a cached screen by testing ip address on different browser or device.

2/ Unplug  for 20 min reboot.

3/ Still stuck?

Do recovery, instructions

in fibaro knowledge.

3/ work up through cloud backups,

( which you hopefully have done ), reinstalling to your latest version.

Jamie,

Thanks for this. When you put the HC2 into recovery mode it gives you 4 options

exit recovery mode

repair - which I have tried and it does not work

restore from file - this seems to be a file that will be saved in my Mac - which I don't have

restore - it says all data will be lost

My assumption and I have been too scared to press ok - was to restore and loose all data and then I will get a later option to restore from a backup? is this correct?

Is there anything I need to be careful of?

Thanks

Correct

The "restore" is the option you want

This is if you have a UP TO DATE cloud back up which you have created not a auto backup which automatically happens when you upgrade to a new software(which for what ever reason is not reliable)

If you are unsure contact support.

So the plot thickens

I have now tried to restore the system to factory settings and the progress bar loads to about 56% before hanging. the page then says corrupt file and then system reboots.

When the system loads back up to the recovery page it shows software 4.540 and connected to internet like nothing has happened.

I have logged a support ticket but making no progress thus far
