HC2 'Forgettng' Fibaro Motion Sensors

Youhenna

Question

Hi

I've had weird issues with my Z-Wave network for a while that seem impossible to diagnose and resolve... notably a slowdown of the network (lights may take 10 seconds to turn on when a motion sensor is activated). Support have remoted to the device and are unable to diagnose the issue.

The latest issue is that Fibaro motion sensors seem to just get dropped or forgotten from the HC2. They don't get set as dead nodes... they just don't register motion, and to resolve I have to delete the device and re-register. I'm having to do 1-2 of these per week which is a nightmare when having to edit all scenes etc. Most of these are on the periphery of the network.

I love my HC2, and have never understood the haters, putting them down as not understanding the complexities of the system... but these latest issues are seriously making me consider Vera!

Anybody got any ideas to save me having to jump ship?

Thanks!

Very simillar issue is happening to me and many customers.

Basically if you leave it without doing anything at your point, the batery dies at the end. But there is no low battery report... after some time sensor gets marked as dead. Changing battery imediatelly wakes sensor up.

Sometimes, there is simillar issue as yours that the sensor simply dont work and they need to be removed and readded.

Those two issues did not exist a year ago and they started to be a big problem for many customers. When I do remote tech support for my customers, I see motion sensors not dead but with 1-2 months without motion info. And those are the sensors that worked and just randomly stopped.

I dont believe the issue is in the network itselve. It is happening for big networks as well as for small networks. It even happened in my house and I never ever had this issue with comunication in my network (NEVER EVER!!!). So I believe there is some bug in the system that simply forgets the IDs or something and because sensors are trying to comunicate, they die. I reported that to Fibaro support but well, I will know answer probably in 1-2 months :D

  • Many thanks for your response - I’m glad it’s not just me!

I’ll hold off on replacing my HC2 for now... fingers crossed we see a solution soon!
