'Home Center' Android App 1.0.0

Did find the new "Home Center" App (prerelease version so far) this morning and downloaded it to my Android phone.

 

Looks really good visually compared to the old App (at least in my view), but functionality aren't really there yet in my view.

- You can't arm the hole house with one action (swipe up doesn't work). So you have to arm one room at a time (and requires no PIN even if all my user account are setup to require PIN when arming). Disaming gets even worse, still have to be done per room but now also requires PIN so takes a long time to disarm all rooms.

- Categories are good but not used fully. In the App the "Security" category are empty, but in my HC2 I have over 20 devices added to this category.

- Login function is strange..... First you login with your Fibaro ID (just as in the old app), then you select the HC2 you want to use (just as in the old app (I think)) then you are in and connected!?! What happened to the "User Login"?????

- Main screen, vibrates on all actions you do which quickly becomes irritating.

- Main screen, at the top section it says 'Active Profile: At Home'. Even if I arm the entire house it stays this way which makes no sense.

As for me - Satel devices shows as "unsuported" while in the old app they are fully working.

Plugins, Cameras ,Virtual devices and support of some devices (in terms of appearing) have to be added. But i think, this is good start now. I'm confident, that they will appear correctly in one of next updates.

That's a huge security risk.
I have 8 different HC2 customers in my Fibaro ID.
For those, I will definitely not install the update.

Fibaro ID and HC2 Login have to be same from now on. You probably got lucky, that you have same credentials.

Fibaro ID and HC2 Login have to be same from now on. It depend if your advice. When they will not be able to login with new app, then advice them to keep old app running.

 

Check with your distributor in Germany. They could probably get you access to Installer app, so you don't have to have all HCs under your account.

App is nice, I agree that the vibrations are crazy.

- As well the app logs in with some random user and can not be changed.

- I have 6 different thermostats in showroom (Fibaro, Secure, HeatIT, MCO Home, Everspring and Popp) and Fibaro app shows only Fibaro radiator valve under heating

- Virtual devices can not be opened

- I would be so happy if Fibaro introduce the home modes (home, away, holiday, sleep). That would help so much users that are not so good with variables.

- Camera D-LINK not working

 

But for first realease it is quite good, I like the feel of it. I was hoping the heating schedules and energy measurements would be part of it, but well, maybe next time

So from now on when using the new App we will only be able to have one user in the system?? That can't be true?

There are many useful things from the old app missing, for example:

- one click to arm/disarm whole house alarm and turn on /off all lights

- fingerprint to disarm the alarm

- PIN code before open the app

- no division into rooms and section - now you have to scroll all rooms with their devices to get the last one on the list. I know that there are favorite but I don't have all and missing some icons 

- location not shown in the settings 

 

But I like very much new RGB Controller interface. And I think that it's much more stable.

Yeah, it seems right now the right time to move out from Fibaro....

Seems, that the company is focusing on new marketing features instead of making stable and well working product.

About the new app itself - yes, actually want also to report the same issues already reported here, but the issues in app beta (hmm, i got app from promoting mail, so it's actually *NOT* an beta) are fixable - but in bigger perspective, when to look into other threads in this forum, we see, that there is tons of old well-known bugs in HC controller software, which ones are not fixed during the year(s) ?!? And now here is the new app, requiring additional effort.

And for me the breaking point is a security. So, really the ID and local account are joint behind single account/password or is there somewhere in Fibaro servers the key base to access to all HC's (target for hackers). Out of scope in this thread, but i think, it's quite urgent thing from Fibaro to explain all the security system in HC (what passwd's/keys, where stored, ... )

 

PS. With this new app actually there is no need for FibaroID - it's possible to connect locally with local account, but... actually friendly recommendation for Fibaro - pls. discharge the idiot, who design/program the HC-IP addresse input. Usually the numbers in IP addresse are separated with *dots* not colons; If there is some default values, then i hope, they stay there also after that, user changes number, which (s)he is editing, and usually user separates the numbers with dot on "keyboard", but not select them each separately on "big screen".

One more thing for app (and may-be overall security) design.

When i finished my local user experiment, i removed the temporary account form HC2, and what happens? Yes, of course the app reports, that something wrong with my account/pass - good. But after that the HC sends me the mail about 5 unsuccessful attempts?!? So, is the app so stupid to repeat attempts (hmm, but anyway reporting on screen about invalid user/pass) or is the HC2 lie about 5 attempts and blocking for 30 minutes? Actually, aft change back to the global ID there was no problems to log in (Yeah, the communication was not direct, but via the Fibaro cloud, so may-be the blocking still working).

And one more recommendation(point for thinking) - the mail about suspicious login attempts containing IP addresse. Yes, for problem solving it's necessary,  but sending such data over plain/public mail is not the best practice - so, may-be the mail without internal IP and the debug info into notification center?

No, In a few months, there will be possibility to share HC to diiferent Fibaro ID. Same as with Fibaro intercom.

Add user through Fibaro ID. There you can have more users. It probably needs some tweeking on controller side now. For now, users will probably download new app to check it and return to old one, which i hope is not in terminal release yet.

No, it is admin login. Login has to have same credentials as Fibaro ID.

I am confused, Jakub! I am using the new app with two users right now: one super user and one ordinary user. It uses the "sharing" feature that you have mentioned.

 

This is what I did. Register new user at https://id.cloud.fibaro.com, log out. Then login on that same site with your owner id. Grant the new user id permission to your HC by adding the new user's mail address, I think it is under remote access. Log on to your HC with owner's cloudid (also being superuser). Under account, click "synchronize". A new user with a name in the form of a mail address should appear(the new cloudid). Grant permission, set password. Now on the app you can use both accounts. If something is wrong or you type in wrong password or user 5 times your app might show empty screen because your phone will have been blocked for 30 minutes. The new cloud id should work for home.fibaro.com too.

When i checked it yesterday, then i had it not available. Now, i see it is available. Dammit things are changing from one minute to another. Also Fibaro support gave me info, that it should be there after few months.

Thanks for that information. It only works on English version of Fibaro id site.

I check yesterday and see nothing new. Now I change language and see new feauters.

Is this new app supposed to work?

For me, it shows just empty pages after Fibaro ID login.

Gateway is running latest FW.

I miss a lot of functions from the previus app, the only real improvement i can find so far in this app is the possibility to change color.

 

For example i miss:

See status of 12 rooms at the same time and the possibility to control them with swiping.

Drag and drop the rooms in favorit position

Large icons for the rooms

There is no icons at all in the scrollingmenus, vary hard to find right room when everything looks the same

Strange and unaccurate feeling in the scrolling and an annoying vibration
