Question

Many third-party units are not supported by Fibaro templates. In some cases, the manufacturer says that such templates are "in the pipeline", having been submitted to Fibaro but not implemented yet. My question is simple:

If I have already added a device to the system without using a template, and a template later becomes available, will this be of any use to me? Or will that require removing the device, and the re-adding it using the template?

all device without templated should working without problems.

Fibaro already answered this question.

why Fibaro asking for sending templated and never will add it, it another question. :)

as for me, IMHO Fibaro focuses on own devices. in a perfect world, Fibaro wish to support only Fibaro devices :)

  • Yes, both your statements are correct:

    1. Devices without templates still work
    2. There are (good?) reasons why Fibaro does not prioritize third-party templates.

Occasionally, however, new templates do appear. My question relates to this situation: Will a new template for an already installed device be of any use?

  • If that is all it takes to integrate a template into an existing device, it sure is worth a try. Just add a tick in the box and "save", not a complete reconfiguration, then. The next time I hear that a template is out I will attempt this (if that ever happens). Two of my current favorites: Qubino weather station and HeatIt Z-TRM2 thermostat.

    Thanks, @10der
