Question

Posted (edited)

Greetings,

I build a scene and I like to get the name of a variable, NOT the content of variable.

Is there a way to do that on fibaro? I found some examples using _G but it is not an option on fibaro LUA framework.

The reason is that I like to read

1.if variable is a function (can be done using type(v))

2.in case is function I like to check the name and compare it with a string, so I know which function made the call.

Please help!

The most efficient would be using debug() to look at the call stack but that's not allowed on the HC2.

You can use _ENV in scenes

but you have to search through the environment which is not that efficient (it's not that big on the HC2 unless you add a lot of funs)

If you look it up many times in the same scene instance it can be worth building a lookup table
