Question

Posted

I have a Danalock which is situated on the edge of HC2 range and it receives commands maybe one time out of 10. But it stubbornly doesn’t want to do any hops via intermediary devices which there are plenty of between the lock and controller. Fibaro door-window sensor located on the same door for example easily hops via two devices and works reliably.
so the question is if it’s possible to manually set its routing to make hops? Probably with UZB?

i am trying to underdstand.

but if the signals are not reached, they are also not reaching the zsniffer? that is also a controller?

Not necessarily.

Zniffer is a controller(modem) zwave device but the firmware is listen only and has no support for a network. Nothing is routed to the zniffer. It just listens to the RF and records the messages.

It will record messages in range which may fail to be routed back to the controller and are not from a node in range of the controller for example.

I've received the UZB today (it turned out to have 500 series chip, but it's not an issue after all)

That is correct and good, the UZB-3 (Silabs) and UZB-1 (Z-Wave.me) both are based on the series 500 and that is a good thing, the series 300 is obsolete and does not do 100 k on second frequency. It might be possible to buy such old controllers on ebay, but it is not a good idea. The UZB-7 is also not good, because there is no Zniffer firmware for this newer dongle.

As expected by the more professional forum dwellers the routing was not the problem.

You can trust @robmac and me, we have looked at thousands of packets and routing is rarely the issue.

People think routing issues exist because the make a graphical map based on the neighbors and LWR table and then draw false conclusions

Only Zniffer can see such issues, the controller on your gateway hides routing issues

Turns out one of my FGS-223s went rogue and sent power reports every second effectively spamming the network.

You are the 3rd, possibly 4rd person to mention this. Did you try to set some parameters to 0 to disable reporting, then this happened?

It is in the "Repair and Maintenance Guide"

    That means I’m lucky :)

I’ve also read about this problem. But I have a different issue. Sometimes my controller changes parameters for some devices by itself. For example one of my FGS 223 loses scene activation function from time to time because the controller sets the parameter to 0.
In this case periodic reports parameter was set to 1 second. After changing it to 1 hour everything got back to normal.

Wow, that is strange...glad to see that zniffer thing helped you to figure out solution. :)
