Can i Control a HC2 from a HC3?

Question

Posted

I do see that some things simply does not work in the HC3 yet.

For example i have a lock that does not do anything except getting assigned to the HC3.

I do have a HC2 where it did work.

So can i set up the HC3 to control the HC2 to control the lock?

As far as I know "Connect Gateways" looking for HC3 only.

So looks like HC2 cannot be connected.

- you can use QAs, to create virtual door lock and send the Information via HC2 API to controll it, as well to ask the current status and display on HC3.

- you can use two lamps, two motion (actually lux sensors), to create kind of link between both :)

I posted a proxy generator QA for creating HC3 proxies for devices on the HC2 - works ok.

It was mostly a proof of concept. I’m just running a wall plug and 2 motion sensors with it and they seem to do their job - can still be issues though so let me know and we can hunt down the bugs together. Doesn’t support color devices at the moment. Mostly because of the issue with the UI on the HC3, updating sliders and labels. I may take another look at it later...

Maybe it’s worth doing a generic QA class for “proxy devices” - started with my own Hue devices and that code ended up looking almost the same - one “mother” QA that interacts with the real external devices and install/remove “generic” child QA devices that just handles the states/UI and sends commands back to the mother...

Please be aware that when you change QA code in HC3 and HC2 continues to send command to QA function it will freeze your HC3 for awhile.
