HC3 + Remote Sensors

Question

Posted

Hello,

I need some alarm system in the basement. Basement and the apartment(HC3 is here) are connected via Lan. The question is, is it possible to connect zwave sensors in the basement without buying a second HC3 or buying the entire Satel system compatible with fibaro? I have a USB Z-WAVE stick, and a mini pc. Is there any option to combine Domoticz / HA / OpenHAB software or any other with 3 z-wave sensors and a siren with HC3 that stands at home?

You should be able to use HCL as a slave to your HC3. That creates an easy way to include the basement sensors to your existing setup.

Otherwise I'd suggest miniPC with the Z-Wave dongle running Z-Wave2MQTT. With the new MQTT library for QuickApps, you should be able to create a solid integration. Be warned though - I'm playing around with the MQTT library right now and it's not playing 100% nice for me.

From what I know, HC3 does not work with HCL as a slave, only at the moment with the second HC3. Well, unless someone tested it and has other confirmed information?

Are you willing to share the QA in which you use MQTT?

    Sure thing,

here's a QA for a Dimmer that is communicating over Z-wave2MQTT just as I described above.

All the configuration is done using QA Variables.

I installed linux today with Zwave2Mqtt, tomorrow new modules will come and I'll test, thank You for QA.

If anyone is interested, I received a response from Fibaro today that at the beginning of Q3 2020 there will be the possibility of supporting HCL as a slave from the level of HC3.

Can you share screenshots of your ZW2MQTT configuration because I think I'm doing something wrong. QA won't connect to the broker.

Are you using Zwave2MQTT? Did you get that set up correctly and can you access it via its WebUI to see and control your Z-Wave devices? What are you using for a MQTT broker? a local NUC or a cloud broker (cloudmqtt.com?) This is my setup on the Zwave2MQTT side and the broker information for QA comes directly from this

I have exactly the same configuration at home and unfortunately QA does not connect. I tested on mqtt on domoticz and it connects without a problem, so I don't know what the reason may be.

I can access Z2M via its WebUI to see and control Z-Wave devices.

your readTopic and writeTopic need to match the topics you want to read/write

For instance for my dimmer they are: zwave/Office/Desk_lamp/51/1/0 and zwave/Office/Desk_lamp/51/1/0/set respectively.

read / write topic does not matter when connecting. I tested on domoticz and with a bad topic QA connected without a problem with the broker, but did not read / write events

Besides how to determine where to get these parameters "/ 51/1/0"
