Difference while adding in secure/insecure mode

What does it mean adding in secure/insecure mode?

What is the recommendation for Fibaro switched/roller shutters?

Is there impact on usage/performance/response time?

A secure mode device agrees key exchange at the point the device is added to the ZWave network see:

Please login or register to see this link.

After this all messages are encrypted between the device and the hub.

So you have to think: If someone was outside snooping the zwave with a laptop with a zwave stick and the captured you traffic or worse still sent a unsecured message to change the deivce. What would be the impact.

My opinion - some examples:

Alarm system devices - Secured

Doorlocks - secured

Light switches/Plus etc. unsecured

Blinds - Secured

For Fibaro Devices - Specifically - Thermostat Controllers TRVs upgrades to the firmware cannot be made when they are in secure mode, you have to remove the device, add it unsecured, upgrade and then remove again and add in secure mode. :-(
