HC3: Lua to split String (x,y,z)

Question

Posted

Hi ,

with fibaro.get(DEVICE, "color") I am receiving a String back from my Hue devices.

To use them with a fibaro.call it is required to split the comma separated string and transform into "number".

I did not find such a function in the docs, does anyone have an idea how to process such strings and split them into more.

(a cut by position does not work cause the numbers between 0-255 will change the positions within the string).

It used to exist on the HC2

    Thanks, this works for me as well:

    function split(s, sep)
     local fields = {}
     sep = sep or " "
     local pattern = string.format("([^%s]+)", sep)
     string.gsub(s, pattern, function(c) fields[#fields + 1] = c end)
     return fields
    end

    ....and in QAs there is a string.split(str,sep) function available. Not in scenes though.
