Double Smart Module wiring / use

Question

Posted

I couldn't see a separate forum for the Double Smart Module FGS-224, but I understand that it replaces the FGS-223?

I have connected the device to a simple test circuit with a 230v feed and a single lamp - the same test circuit I am using to test, adopt and pre-configure my Dimmers without issue.

I have connected the live feed to both the L and IN terminal and the neutral feed to both the N terminal and the light, with a switched live from the Q1 terminal to the light. There is no physical switch.

The module switches on, is adopted into the controller and the controller reports that the outputs are on/off with a 'transfer OK' message when I switch them, but nothing happens.

All of the parameters are default at the moment, but I can't see anything in there I should need to change to get this working. What am I missing?

Hello

I have not yet understood your test circuit.
Each module has slightly different connections and so 1: 1 will not work.
Look here is a circuit for a dimmer (FGD-212) and a double switch (FGS-224)

You can see that this is not so easy.
But be careful there are 230VAC and that is life threatening!
Try to hook it up correctly or get a professional.

Hi, I'm really sorry not to reply sooner, I didn't see a reply notification (I'm assuming it's hiding in my junk folder!)

The wiring diagrams for the dimmer make perfect sense, I can quite easily distinguish the switches, lamps and cables in the circuit. The wiring diagram for the smart module, however, leaves quite a lot to be desired. I'm quite happy to be told I don't know what I'm doing around electric cables, but a professional, qualified electrician couldn't work it out either (We're not sure if that's because he didn't interpret it correctly, or because he was misled by it not working as intended!).

For a start, the numbers 1 and 2 in the diagram do not appear to refer to anything. Next, Q1 and Q2 are switched to IN, this *appears* to be an internal switching function of the device, which would make sense, but why is it in a wiring diagram? Following that, IN and L are permanently tethered in that diagram, so why are there two terminals? There is no load in that diagram, the cables S1 and S2 are connected to switches, that bit makes sense but they both, along with Q1, Q2, L (and therefore IN) and N all just go into a 'magic cloud' represented by this mythical unlabelled '2' box.

Bearing in mind that I do not need a physical switch, this is how I wired the dimmer (which works fine):

And this is how I wired up the double smart module, which doesn't work (again no switch, and only one load - the lamp):

Hopefully this makes more sense to you than that original wiring diagram does to me?

Incidentally, I did try connecting a physical switch and it still doesn't work. Is it just faulty?

This is how i connected a double smart module to my garage door and works very well.
