Home center 3 broken?

Question

Posted (edited)

I just bought the home center 3. Started to configuring it and lastly created some rooms. Then it asked me to restart the device.

After the restart it starts up normally with turning lights on from right to left. However the last alarm light is just flashing amber.?

I seems like every 5 minutes or something it just restarts.

I have tried getting it into recovery mode. Pressing the power button until all lights are red and it restarts. Then pressing the + button about 5 sec until it starts flashing from left to right. It will turn on all the lights (amber) however the last alarm lights is still flashing (but this time very faded compared to before). The + light doesn’t turn red.

The funny part is all the icons are amber (also network) even dough I haven’t plugged in the network cable and it’s not setup to WiFi?

I tried the recovery with or without network cable attached. There is no difference what so ever...

I contacted fibaro support however they where not able to help me and recommend to send it to them.

I just wanted to very that it’s completely bricked before I send it.

Attached video of how it automatically restarts and a video of when I press the buttons to set it into recovery mode

This is the future.

It's space technology.

I know I am not helping, but sometimes I am amazed by these HC3 problems. :)

yes, it have to restart itself (watchdog checking system health) if system (e.g. A) crashed and boot to spare/second system (e.g. B). If both are broken, one can still recover it, having Installer Repair USB Stick (system C), not sure if that has been already rolled out.

The A/B concept works actually very nice, however as nobody is reading the manuals anymore, some users are complained about it ^^, so simply ignore useless comments.

Anyway, normally on new empty HC3 you have 5.030 firmware installed, and during FTI you will get asked to do firmware update (to latest version), so when you did it, it have to boot to second system if there was crash ... unless it was already half DOA ...

... which is the case why Support told you to send it to repair.

When first started up it asked me to install latest fw. I did that. I’m pretty sure that went okay. So after the restart I continued to configure it and again is asked me to restart. After that restart it was broken.

I just tried connecting a laptop directly to the device. However the network port do not detect the fibaro... I guess this is bad?

the only hope is trying to recover trough a usb stick I guess...

    What will you recommend me?

actually the only reboot questions during the configuration comes from time settings

when it's new, and you have warranty, and recovery don't work:

    - return to seller (probably the fastest way), as broken on delivery

    - send to Fibaro to repair it

    You can try following:

    - turn it off (power supply off)

    - press and hold plus button

    - apply power (please hold the plus button)

    - wait till one of the leds lit blue for short time, should be after 2-3min or so, release plus button and wait till HC reboot (might be additional 5-10mins)

If it does not boot into recovery or boot to system A or B, you will have to send to repair or back to seller.

I tried power it off and holding. Pressing the + and keep holding it while applying power. I pressed it for several minutes however none of the lights turns blue... :(

it will be great to get that usb stick. I will try to write to fibaro.

ok, so you can only send it back or to Fibaro (for repair)

i think you will not get it, that stick is for certified Fibaro Installers (or support teams), not even sure if Fibaro released them already.
