If open source can implement Zigbee from different vendors, why can't Fibaro, soon? (*)

 

This site lists compatibility of devices with six open source (edit: only five if you consider deConz is partially open)  Zigbee gateways.

"Currently 1299 devices are supported from 194 different vendors." That is a bit of a marketing claim because some of those are "rebranded" stuff. Still quite an impressive list.

 

I have different sensors and actors from Hue, TuYa, Mi/Aqara, SonOff, Lidl, about 40 in total at the moment, that is anecdotal and do not jump to conclusions, this software has issues too. But there is a public bug tracker and forum.

True in 99% of all cases. But if it is a simple Zigbee device, in Z2M you can copy/paste the definition of a similar device and get it up and running yourself.

 

If you ask the maintainer to add a definition it takes less than 3 days.

 

Don't take my word for it. Have a look at the commit log of the "Herdsman Converters"

Is it perfect? No, things break ... and get fixed again...

 

And of course, open source does not care about becoming a member of an expensive committee and does not get any certifications...

 

(*) Edit. As @tinman pointed out, Fibaro did not say they "can't implement different vendors or Zigbee" - it is more precise to say HC3 does not do Zigbee today and its implementation is not a priority.

actually HC3L TX is +9dBm while HC3 is +14dBm (which is max z-wave allowed in EU), HC3 is using even better antenna (for large implementations make sense) as the HC3L (which is for small, up to e.g 100m² flats, good enough).

HC3 got zigbee chip on board HC3L not.

I understood that you are sad that we not offer zigbee engine right now. (Price of Hc3 is that same like HC2) Please tell me how you want to use it, with what devices? Because ZigBee is not a z-wave you got a lot of standards

 

Right now we focus on cameras 264, gateway connection and energy panel, support of devices from our Nice group; later climate panel, garden panel,

 

We are watching about CHIP where what they will release, what may change that Zigbee will be a lot of more important for us

My need isnt so high just wanted to add some Zigbee to play with.

If I may request for me priority one is >>>> Netatmo camera should be nice when its in HC3.

The Problem may be what device, because all of them use ZigBee but in different way

 

With Netatmo we talk but they have some requirements that require a lot of work on our side

I would like to see Zigbee sensores, remotes and lamps working. That's the reason i've bought my HC3 in first place.
