@A.Socha Is it that important what devices your clients want to integrate with ZigBee protocol? There are plenty cheap alternatives for Z-Wave. For example - I have some ZigBee door/window sensors which I planned to use in the kitchen cabinets to automate backlight. I want to use it on fridge and play alert when it's too late to have a snack. As alarm when children are opening safety stair gate. As protection against opening hot oven by children. These sensors are cheap, and they are perfect for this job.

Your clients paid for promises that ZigBee will be available, so it SHOULD be available, no matter what they want to do with it. It just SHOULD be there, becouse all HC3 users paid for this. So stop arguing that there are Z-Wave alternatives.

It sounds like Fibaro under estimated the difference in Zigbee implementations between the brands.

no, zigbee is a standard, there is  no reason to add zigbee yet (financial)

In case of HC3L. I have ordered usb hub with PSU passthrough, so I'm hyped to try it out.

In regards to ZigBee. It is crap of standard if we talk about intercompatibility across manufacturers and Fibaro would need to get many devices to make some template. Only part of ZigBee compatible across manufacturers is ZigBee light. In that regard I like Z-Wave more, because I do not need template in HC3 to have device working as it should.

Oh and by the way, I am about 90% with "Paul Hibbert" when he talks about the CHIP initiative. I would not go as far as to claim it is a "con" but I don't believe many existing Zigbee devices will get a firmware upgrade to be CHIP compatible.

"Zigbee is getting replaced by CHIP, so we can all throw our Smart Home stuff in the bin and start again! What is Connected Home Over IP? It's another Industry con."

Those are bold claims... Or is is "fighting back marketing misinformation"? I let you decided and we'll talk about this again next year.

If you ask the maintainer to add a definition it takes less than 3 days.

3 days, becouse it is open-source. In closed system and corpo like Fibaro it would take longer as it needs to climb priority list.

Honestly, if ZigBee would be just ZigBee lighting I would be perfectly happy with it.

If open source can implement Zigbee from different vendors, why can't Fibaro?

    i don't think Fibaro said "we can't"

This site lists compatibility of devices with six open source (edit: only five if you consider deConz is partially open)  Zigbee gateways.

in the theory one could compile it for HC3 (the zigbee uart firmware on HC3 should support it), and let it run as is, and access to it via MQTT locally, which of course make no sense:

    - you can't just take OS thing andputon CS thing without lot of legal issues, except you the owner of the hardware and got root on your HC3
    - it will eat resources as hell, clean implementation (without MQTT inbetween) is the way to go -> Fibaro need to do it

Hubitat has both and launched a while back with a 700 chip on zwave so Fibaro is being a bit slow to market . One year behind one of their biggest competitors is not a big success.

For now I’m glad I cancelled my HC3 order early 2020.

In the Fibaro press release on 07/01/2020 they mentioned Zigbee-ready. I was ok with that, later there was the news that Zigbee will be activated late 2020.

Now it has no priority.? The HC3 was advertised with multiple protocols. When you check the specifications of the HC3 on the Fibaro website Zigbee isn’t mentioned anymore. And because they don’t advertise with it, they don’t have to support it, I think that says enough that it will never be activated ?.

Why I appreciate it when Zigbee is actived, cheaper products and a bigger product range. For some solutions I don’t want to buy a “expensive” Z-Wave product.

I also don’t understand that they say it’s hard to implement Zigbee while others brands also do it (Homey for example), they should have thought about that before releasing and advertising the HC3.

For now I keep my HC2, if it breaks I hope HC3 is better improved or I can buy a used HC2.

Thank you, you got small mistakes but great job

    • HC3L yes in 5.060 he got limit 40 z-wave device but from 5.062 beta up it will be removed and you will have possibility to add more devices but after crossing 40 you will see info that you got more then recommend
    • 1 IP Camera - we talk about MJPG camera, with mjpg camera HC3L doing as a streamer and because he use only wifi (most of users will use it)it give heavy load on device; from 5.070 you will find 2 plugins for hikvision and dahua HD (264 cameras with cloud solution) if you install it it will eat you 1 slot for plugins 1/5 but you can have 10 cameras in cloud
    • Yes HC3L-001 don't have radio Nice on board but you can use BiDi-zwave to control some of Nice Devices (gates, garage doors)

    Hi,

The 20 rules limitation (HC3L) will be also removed in the 5.062 beta version?
