If the camera's use unifi protect, then you can't use the standard camera plugin (afaik)

Has anyone managed to connect the unifi G4 camera via rtsp?

Hi all,

I do not have Ubiquiti Unifi Cameras, but I noticed that my Foscam and Netatmo cameras I can see only in Yubii home app v2.03, but are not shown in GUI on browser since 5.150 update. Fibaro is really too slow in solving some things that worked before, but does not work anymore. 👎

i have unifi cameras working with HC3 but you do need the Skaro Bridge Pro and the unifi plugin.

It shows the Stream, Motion detection and ability to switch recording mode from the hc3.

The cameras can be used as motion devices to trigger scenes too.

I have the bridge available for sale on my site.

Hello all,

I have upgraded my home network with UDR7, USW switches and U7 Lite AP. I also get one G5 Turret ultra camera for testing.

I managed to get G5 RTSP stream to HC3 thanks to help from @Brors94 who managed to find solution on UniFi forum.

RTSP streaming

Since 2022 Ubiquiti removed from their cameras ability to stream directly to other devices. It is still possible to get RTSP stream from either UNVR or Cloud gateway with installed Protect app.

First you need to go to Protect app and click on camera that you want to get stream in HC3. Select Settings tab and scroll down to Advanced part.

Click on checkbox in front of the desired resolution. I tested medium and low.

After checking the checkbox you will see generated RTSPS link e.g.:

rtsps://xxx.xxx.x.x:7441/RSaPT1Ko7Rgfguza?enableSrtp

Now go to HC3 and add IP camera device with other manufacturer and other model. Go to just added IP camera device Advanced tab and first in RTSP stream path field paste only part of the link you get from Protect app (NOTE: remove from path question mark and everything that is after):

RTSP stream path: /RSaPT1Ko7Rgfguza

RTSP port: 7447. Note that port is different than the one in provided RTSPS link. It is not typo :-)

IP or WWW address: put IP address of your device that is running Protect app. For example in my case Protect app is running on my UDR7.

Save IP camera device. You will not be able to see camera stream on browser locally or remotely connected.

You will be able to see camera stream on Yubii Home mobile app, but only when mobile phone is connected locally on your network.

Still trying to find how to get RTSP stream when Yubii Home app is remotely connected to the HC3. I hope it is possible to get it with opening port in the firewall, but for now no success. If anyone managed to do that please share findings here. Thank you.

JPEG streaming

If you don't mind too much on camera picture low resolution then it is also possible to get JPEG snapshot. Dimension of the snapshot is only 640x360 :-P

First you need to enable getting anonymous snapshot directly on camera. In browser just enter IP address of the UniFi camera and you will see login page.

To login username is: ubnt and password you can find in Protect app Settings under the System option in the Advanced tab. There is Recovery code that you need to reveal and then you can copy it.

After you login to the camera under the Configure tab just check option Enable Anonymous Snapshot. If you want to see Camera name and/or timestamp then also check them and save changes.

Now you can get camera picture in both HC2 and HC3 gateways.

For HC3:

Connection type: http

JPG stream path: /snap.jpeg

Preview settings: Display as JPG refresh time 1 sec

IP or WWW address: IP address of the camera

Port JPG/MJPEG: 80

For HC2:

check option: Display camera image on the main page

Protocol: http

IP address (including port): IP address of the camera with port 80 e.g. 192.168.0.100:80

JPG stream path: /snap.jpeg

MJPG stream path: /snap.jpeg

Display camera image: JPG Refresh time: 3 sec

Above solution is tested only with G5 Turret Ultra camera. If anyone get some results with other models please share here. Thank you! :-)
