NETATMO API evolution

Hi Fibaro team. There will be a Netatmo API evolution for access... Could you update the HC2 plugin in order to take account of this evolution.

Netatmo API Security Update

Dear Netatmo developer,

To improve the security of our products, we inform you that the Client Credentials grant type method will be completely removed. It will no longer be possible to authenticate with the username and password of the user. The effective date of this update is October 2022. How can you authenticate with Netatmo API ? From this date, the OAuth2 authorization code flow must be followed for authentication. You can find details on this method on our website:

That is strange. My plugin is working for long time without any problems. I do use different app information for plugin and for my Netatmo Weather station solution.

Try to add another Netatmo app on your Netatmo account and use this new credentials.

Hi @Sankotronicmy rain sensor was dead, flat battery. After putting in new batteries and restart of plug-in, it’s working again. It seems that when one of the sensors is down, the Netatmo plugin is no longer updating all other sensors

Didn't think of that since it is a long time all my sensors batteries are replaced before they go dead. Thanks for reminding me on that problem with plugin.

The end is the 17/04/2023, and no news for HC2 plugin...

I have just bought Home Center 3 (HC3) this month and it was a tremendous disappointment to realize that after all I cannot associate my Netatmo thermostat system and the respective radiator valves... I have the entire heating system based on Netatmo valves and that makes the Home Center 3 useless after all...

It is possible to make integration of Netatmo thermostat with HC3, I'm just surprised that none including me didn't make one 😮

Hi @Sankotronic. Is this a stand-alone fix that you made, or part of your uhas system (I’m looking for stand-alone, just a fix or replacement of the Fibaro plugin)

@Sankotronicthanks for reply, that’s a pity (for me), not using uhas, but depending on netatmo as main thermostat for living room heating. I was already anticipating on forgetting about Netatmo altogether, scrapped internals of one of the netatmo indoor modules and put an esp32 micro-processor and temperature sensor in the casing, using mqtt to communicate with my hc2.

Only drawback that this needs 5v power, would have liked to go back to the original Netatmo situation.

Weather is actually better than I expected. 90% sun, some clouds and short showers of either snow, hail or rain. Now when I write this in my hotel room there is nice sunshine outside

I have the same problem. Was using the Netamo plugin to measure the temperature in a room to control the heating.

It worked fine up to the oktober 2022  change of the autorization.  Has this been solved yet?  My plugin also shows "connected"  but temperatures are  not updated

The authorization change is only effective as per 14 or 17 april, you should have gotten an email from netatmo on this. I also had the problem that my Netatmo system in hc2 (using fibaro plugin) was blocking, no updates for a two/three weeks. What appeared was that the battery of the rain sensor was drained, blocking the entire system. Replacing the battery solved my problem. Check the battery status of all your devices in the separate Netatmo app.
 

For Netatmo to work on hc2 in the future, don’t put your hope on Fibaro to update the plugin. But, @Sankotronic has provided two solutions for this, one stand-alone, and one integrated in his Uhas system (see his recent postings on both topics). I intend to install the stand-alone system next week upon my return home.

I think I discovered the answer the hard way... I cannot install UHAS on HC3 because I can't import virtual devices (.vfib files) or I can't find out how...

UHAS for HC2 is only for HC2 and can’t be installed on HC3.
