HC3 Quick App - How to capture a Global Variable change event

RedRocketFire

Question

I created an empty binary switch Quick App in my HC3  and I want a Quick App function to execute when a Global Variable is updated in the system. I don't know how to capture that event in the Quick App. I thought there was a built in event handler or something for Global Variables. Is it possible?:

function QuickApp:turnOn()
    self:debug("binary switch turned on")
    self:updateProperty("value"true)
end

function QuickApp:turnOff()
    self:debug("binary switch turned off")
    self:updateProperty("value"false)
end

function QuickApp:onInit()
    self:debug("onInit")
end

function QuickApp:whenMyGlobalVariableChanges()
    self:debug("Global Variable XYZ has changed")
    self:turnOn()
end

The most important question is what this function shoud do.

For this moment I see two solution:

  • use scene triggered when Global Variable will be changed (simple solution)
  • implement inside QuickApp listener to hearing all events sending from refreshStatus queue (see on fibaroExtra) and internall processing them
