Save energy to database device advanced configuration

What does the "Save energy to database "do (device configuration)?

 

I figure out the "Use stored energy data in Energy Panel", the "Use instantaneous power in Energy Panel calculations" and the "Calculate energy used", but can't figure out what the "Save energy to database" do...

The same question I have asked myself as well. Actually I was looking for a way to get the measured values exported to CSV or something. But I cannot find anything. However, if the energy measurement would just paint some graphs (and this even in the portal only but not in the mobile app), then it would be quite useless.

 

So let me add the following question: How to get the energy values as CSV?
