Best naming practices and manage in Home Center 3

Fredriksk

Question

So, I'm used to Home Center 2 and how components showed up in that and try to figure out the best naming and managing strategy in Home Center3.

Take a Fibaro dimmer 2 as an example.

On inclusion I get so much "devices" to look at that I have a hard time to understand what is what (not to mention if I include several devices in a room at the same time. And they are all lined up in a row (that was not the case in HC2).

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to name all these devices (i.e should I giva all of them the same name?) And is there a way to make it a little bitt cleaner? As of now, I have hide all the heat detector etc so it doesn't show up in the app on my phone and in google home.. But still... it's a lot of work just to get this to a clean and understandable list. I have like 100 more of these to name...

@Fredriksk You should only see 2 devices. The dimmer and the remote controller for scenes. Look below.

I recommend to exclude / include the dimmer2 again.

If i include a new Fibaro Door Sensor for Example, i do the following:

The "Box" get's the Article Number of the Device.
(Haustür (German) stands for Front Door :))
Only the Door-Sensor itself is visible in my Fibaro. But that's everyone's own Preference.
All the other Devices get their Sensor Type and the Name of the Main Device, along with the ID of the Main Device.

That is strange, I get a energy device with all my dimmer 2 inclusions. I have 10 of them and all produce the same result

@Fredriksk To check the Zwave Engine ZW2 or ZW3, open Swagger on the left side in the homecenter controller.

Swagger > in the top right set it to "settings/info" > scroll down > click on "ZwaveEngineVersion" > you wil see 2 or 3 representing the zwave engine ZW2 or ZW3 you have installed on your hc. Zwave Engnine 3 is still in beta and should not be used for production. Lock below for the selection. Do you have HC3 or HC3L?
