Fibaro DW sensor FGDW-001 v2.5 dying after 8 years or not?

Question

Posted

Hi dear all,

I have several door/window sensors FGDW-001 of version 2.5 that seems to start dying.

Even with inserted new EVE battery they are reported dead "no-communication" if not opened/closed between two wake up events. When they are marked as dead and then opened/closed then they become LIVE again and show proper status of the window/door, but die again if there is no change of state for the duration of the wake up time.

Have also, few that are occasionally reported dead, but then after some time they became live again even status open/close was not changed.

Is there anyone to have similar behavior of this old type of the DW sensors?

Actually is there anyone that still have this old type in use?

I like these old ones because it was possible to connect temperature sensor DS18B20 on the wire so for example have machinery room door status and also temperature of the swimming pool water. Now I have to replace it with smart implant which requires power supply too, so pulling some wires, installing IP44 box etc.

Hi,

I had 3 or 4 die on me this year. I had dead ones, not reporting when door was open but still alive and 2 that drained the batteries within a few weeks.

Of the battery drainers one had the DS18B20 and one didn't.

I have an old one too.

I have today changed the battery to solve the problem.

It seems to be the same problem.

8 years seems a pretty good stretch - the ones I used didn‘t make it beyond six months. Glad I still have some (albeit chunky) Vision Security DW sensors installed (since I first used the HC2 Lite) - no problems for years and low on battery drain.

Cheers Alfons

@Sankotronic Try to set wake-up interval to a new value after replacing the battery, might help :)

    Hi @m.roszak ,

Thanks for the tip! I already replace it with new one, but will add the old one to HC3 and see what happens. I have another FGDW-001 that depletes battery in 2 weeks. Will try that tip with that one and see if it helps.

well I saw l lot of them dying as well, however the ones that are still working only show up as binary sensor in HC3 when I migrated, is that normal?
