HC3 Master Gateway HC3L Slave Z-Wave Engine 3.0

Hello All

 

I am trying to extend our Z-wave network using a HC3 Lite.

Both Gateways are using the same firmware 5.150.18

Previously I tried to setup the slave but failed, found out the HC3 Master is configured with z-wave engine 3.0 and HC3L Slave was configured with engine 2.0

Updated HC3L Slave with Z-wave engine 3.0. Gateway now says compatible but lists engine 3.0 in red and slave says it needs to be on engine 2.0

 

I am trying to avoid a factory reset of the Master HC3 and going back to engine 2.0 (everything seems to work very well currently) for fear of not being able to load a backup taken setup with Z Wave engine 3.0 and losing devices or functionality.

 

Has anyone had experience with this?

 

Is there another work around setup for the HC3 Lite?

Seems to be an option "Add secondary Controller" but can't find any information about this.

 

Currently it seems the only way to use a Master and Slave gateway is to have both configured with engine 2.0

 

 

Any information greatly appreciated.

As I remember this issue was communicated by Fibaro since they published new z-wave engine.

@Cam Aus As sankotronic wrote above, both, master and slave homecenters have to be on the ZW2 engine. The master - slave configuration from fibaro is described

A year ago 2023, I had to change a hc3 with zwave engine ZW3 to ZW2.  I had opend a support ticket with fibaro. The fibaro support told me, there's no way to change the zwave engine without starting from scratch. No backup restoring possible.

 

I haven't seen any news, about this issue.

I did speak to Fibaro support about the issue. Currently there is no possibility of connecting gateways using z-wave engine 3.

They did say they are working on it but no idea when it may be available.

 

Someone suggested connecting gateways using an API.

I have not idea how this would function other than it may have to be an individual API for each device.

Create a device in the "Master" HC3 and receive data from the HC3L?

 

Not sure if it would be laggy.......

Updated to Beta 5.161 with gateway support for Z-wave 3. 

All connected working well 😀
