blinking label

Neo Andersson

Question

Hello guys

Anyone knows any convenient way to blink a label, or the text in it?

As the <blink> HTML tag is deprecated, i can not find any dynamic solution.

Using loop to SHOW and HIDE the label can work but i need a universal way, as there is a lot of labels that i want to use the blinking on. So stopping the blinking should also affect only the desired element.

So some function that takes an element as argument and blinks it, until I explicitly stop it, or something similar behaviour...So somehow hold the reference for the blinking element...hmm

Thanks for any advice

This could work. It patches self:updateView to support

self:updateView(<element>,"blink",<time in ms>)

and if time is 0 it will stop blinking.

However, you can't blink very fast as the UI is a bit slow to update.

...and there is a reason why blinking was deprecated ;-)

If it is to alert user maybe better to make text red?

  • Thanks, something similar i got, but i was looking for some solution where stopping of blinking is coming from other event, and not by a timer runout. Anyway, you are right, i will rather go for colored warnings.
