The Zigbee devices don´t work as a mesh in Fibaro HC3

Question

Posted

Dear Pedro, Could you solve the Zigbee mesh problem in your HC3? I have the same problem and I can´t solve. All the devices that are close to the HC3 works great. But at the very moment that I conect them a little bit far away, they don´t work as a mesh. Exist any solution to this problem?

Do you have mains powered devices or battery? Because battery powered devices don't do any mesh networking.

and add mains units first I think?

Like the homey you have to add 16 mains powered for direct communication first and then they can mesh.

Then add battery devices.

I guess it is the same in the HC3.

No, they are not battery. They are power supply. I haven´t known that I had to add 16 devices. I´m Adding zigbee devices to my HC3 since the  zwave  devices are too expenses, but I didn´t know that I have to add 16 one shot. Is this a must?

No, you dont need to add 16 devices, at least i have never heard of that. @Brors94 was talking about Homey probably, and not about Fibaro. In Homey i dont know, but in Fibaro you dont need 16 devices in my opinion. Ofcourse the more the better.

Yeah I was talking about how the homey act. if you add 8 mains powered and then 8 battery devices. You only have 8 mains powered devices talking direct to the homey that can "mesh" massages too futher away devices. But you dont have too add 16 right away. It is just recommended to add "mains powered" first because they are acting like routers.
I think it is maybe the same way in the HC3 too.
    But I am not sure.

this is the general rule for zigbee, parent device can only add up to 64 slave devices (might be less, e.g. 16. On HC3 max is 64), so if you add 64 battery powered you will be not able to add anything else. Therefore alway add first mains powered with routing, as they act as parent for other devices.
