Can't hit pages on local IP but remote connection and mobile app working - what does this mean?

I often get pages not loading in the week I've had my HC3. I used to get similar on HC2 if I opened too many tabs, but chrome would tell me about socket errors there, and I don't have many tabs open, so I am not sure it's that.
I did see using the remote connection suggested in this thread:
That indeed does work for me - but what does that tell me? Not sure how I can use this information to get my preferred local interface working properly...
