Sunset times wayyy off

Question

Posted (edited)

I've got a simple block scene for sunrise/sunset as a first go at trialling it to manage schedules on my new Hc3. I have my location and NTP time set correctly. Nothing clever as was suggested as a potential cause for issues

, just running at sunrise and sunset.

It's summer here in Australia, 17:30 currently. My scene just triggered. The sun won't set until 19:52 according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

I feel like I had similar issues on my HC2 and would offset the sunrise and sunset times, but those offsets would lengthen and shorten over the seasons and get wonky - at that point I might as well be hard coding times.

Any ideas on how to address this? Does the weather provider manage this one?

Hi @MrNoTip

I am also Aus based with HC3. I have a couple of things running off sunset / sunrise. I'm using the default YR Weather as my weather provider  - I'm not having issues like you seem to be. I have one scene that triggers 45mins before Sunset and others that trigger variable change for Day / Night. All are triggering at correct times

Is your location set/showing correctly on the Location tab (General > Location)?

Well, yes it was....but no it's not! The address was in there but the location had reverted back to Poland. I had just been checking the location, and not really paying much attention to the map today. I reckon that will be it. I won't find out till the morning, but thanks for helping me see the obvious. ;)

LOL. I made that change and they turned on at 2am. Will dig more locally today.

    😬

Sometimes I find on my system it takes a 24h cycle for things to settle down. That makes no sense to me me but on multiple occasions if I change something one day, it won't respond correctly until the next.

Yes indeed...I've finally got it sorted but I thought I'd share the process in case anyone else has the issue:

I used this scene to monitor the currently set sunrise/set times:

I found that no matter what I did, my sunrise was reporting as at 17:50 and sunset at 01:53. I was trying all these random locations across Australia, then Africa, then Iceland and nothing changed....I noticed that unlike most other settings on the general tab, the location doesn't trigger a reboot.

I rebooted with my Reykjavik address (😄) and noticed the times changed, and following a reboot against my Aussie address, my times have corrected:

I feel like I should probably report this as a bug - it looks like it should behave as with  the time settings etc.
