Control valve actuator

Question

Posted

Hello!

I would like to ask for recommendation, advice on how to configure Roller Shutter 3 to support a valve actuator.

I have a heat recovery ventilation system that I can fully control. I have to control one of the butterfly valves 0-100% to mix inside warm air with incoming cold air to prevent freezing in the heat exchange unit.

This is the valve actuatur used:

Currently a Fibaro Roller Shutter 3 is connected to control it.

The RS3 should be calibrated, but I cannot. I think because of the low power consumption of the valve actuator, but I am not sure. The actuator's power consumption is 1.5W when running and 1W then holding.

In RS3 configuration, I set parameter 155 Motor Operation Detection to 1 (W).

The operating mode (parameter 151) is set to the default Roller Blind (1).

How could I "force" calibration to work?

What other settings would you recommend to try?

Thanks in advance!

Gabor

@gabors Hi, checkout the rs3 user manual about calibration

You don't have to calibrate it, just set amount of seconds (how many seconds on and off)

    Thanks for tha answers!

@GanzConrad Yes I know how to set the seconds manually, but didn't know how to tell the device that it is calibrated. Shall I set parameter 151 is set to 5 or 6 meaning the controlled device has a built-in driver? The documentation tells in this case:

    • If the roller blind stops before reaching the top – increase the value of parameter 155.
    • If the roller blind doesn’t stop after reaching the top – decrease the value of parameter 155.
    • If the roller blind stops before reaching the bottom – increase the value of parameter 156.
    • If the roller blind doesn’t stop after reaching the bottom – decrease the value of parameter 156.

So it's simply a trial and error? And then RS3 will know where the endpoints are and I can set the percentage (relatively) accurately?

I'll try the above when it's not 0 celsius in the attic...
