Dimmer2 Load Error after while and Dimmer2 seems broken

Question

Posted

Its already the second Dimmer 2 with the same issue:

I have 4 dimmable LED spots. After installing the Dimmer 2 and running auto calibration everything is working fine. However, after some weeks the dimmer does not correctly dims the lights and shows a "Load Error". After that I cant dim anymore, the lights are either full on or at very low level around 10% I presume. Running auto calibration does not fix the problem, factory reset of the device didn't help either. The dimmer seems defect. I experienced this issue no the second time on the same lights. Can be the LED-Dimmer and Dimmer2 configuration cause a broken Dimmer2 after a while? What can I do?

What kind od spotlights are you using?

Via transformer or directly?

If you are trying to control not dimmable load it may cause issues like that - those draw a lot of Amps on low % level.

If those (bulbs or transformer) are not designed to be dimmed, you got 2 options:

1. Change dimmer to On/Off mode

2. Change the load to something dimmable

Some lights just don't play nicely with the Dimmer 2. (Actually I have tried those problematic lights with Qubino as well, and they also didn't work). So buy another brand of spot light and try one for a month.

The LEDs are connected via an external transformator. The trafo states "dimmable with leading or trailing edge". They are 4 LEDs with 18W per LED. So it should be totally fine actually.

"those draw a lot of Amps on low % level." -> If this is the case, the dimmer should not throw "Load Error" instead "Over-current" or "Over-load" should be the error, right? But I get "Load Error" and then the dimmer seems broken. I have another Dimmer2 working with different trafos and they are fine. So I ordered the same trafo for those 4 LEDs and hope the dimmer2 is not broken and will work.
