Dear Sir

Hotel Mode is new acces restriction functionality. It works only with the iOs appliacation from AppStore.

It works like that:

IN ACCES CONTROL PANEL:

1) We create new user, for ex. Lisa

2) We choose the particular hotel room for this user

3) We choose Lisa's acces rights

THEN

When Lisa, using the iPhone, log in to Her HC2 account via Fibaro HC2 app She will only see one room (choosed in acces control panel) with the devices, without any other options.

when will can we expect to see some manuals (online or otherwise)

Probably in about 2 weeks in english

Regards

Hello Krystian

What's the difference (or relation) between Hotel Mode vs. Devices / Scenes access rights?

I did a test:

Enabled the Hotel Mode.

Created a "User".

Set the user's hotel mode room to "Room A".

Allowed access only to a "device" in the "Unassigned" room.

Result:

Even though hotel mode is enabled, when I log using Android or iPad app, I can access the "device" in the "Unassigned" room (but no devices in the "Room A" when I have not explicitly allowed any devices).

What is the status of the Hotel Mode support in the web interface?

Are there any plans to hide some sections, e.g. Configuration, from non-admin users?

It seems that non-admin users are allowed e.g. to restore configuration backups and some other potentially hazardous actions.

What other options for user access control are there? What about the rights to add/delete scenes?

Has a manual explaining Hotel mode been published anywhere since 2012? Google doesn't seem to bring anything useful up!

Typical example of how Fibaro works :/

Any update on this? Does it work and how? What is the difference between access on devices and the hotel mode?

From the FIbaro "Advanced User's Guide"

Hotel Mode Hotel mode is designed for defining a single room, that a given user will be able to manage through the iPhone interface. For example, if there is USER 1 in the system, and the room ROOM 1 assigned to the user, the person will be able to manage this single room only through his iPhone application.

Just testing this on HC2 v4.082 with latest android app and definitely not working. Only the device and scene access right options have any effect on the user.

The hotel mode tickbox even gets cancelled when the save button is clicked so I'm pretty sure this is potentially (yet another?) work in progress by Fibaro.

Is it just me or can this mode not be enabled on either 4.080 or 4.082 (both HCL)?

i have tried choosing just one room,

choosing devices within this room that user can controll,

clearing browser cache (because offcourse you have to try this),

saving the checked box (no objecting from UI but still did not save the mode),

not saving checked box (i was warned that leaving this page will not save your value).

Hello,

Thank you both for reporting the issue. I am forwarding your insights to the appropriate team.

I still don't see any use of this hotel mode anyway. If you have apartments for renting one can make users like guest001 for apartment 1, guest002 for apartment 2, guest003 for apartment 3, etc, and give each to control only that apartment. When guests arrive they get cheap android phone with installed Fibaro app logged to one of the users for apartment where they will stay and a short instructions how to use.

Or I just miss the point?

yeah if you want to have dozens of user profiles, this is much sleeker idea. bessides you can just have one basic setup across all rooms for ease of troubleshooting.

4.090 HC2 - same behaviour as described on HCL Beta releases

(it wont save the hotel mode when you click FDD icon)

No chance to enable hotel mode in v4.110 (HC2)...I tried RTFM, first :-), but I did not find what I was expected to.

I can activate the checkbox "hotel mode" but after saving the changes the checkbox is blanc again.

I tried adding and configuring a user, first, and than activate the hotel mode as well as vice versa. In both cases the same problem.

Is there still a bug or is the problem located in front of my PC ?

Here again one of the Fibaro problems reoccurs.....

Only on iOs!!!

Does Fibaro only believes in iPhones and forgets that a great lot of people use Androïd (or Windows) phones??

Because Fibaro nevers mentions the 'only on iOs' exception in manuals, tutorials or plugins but state that they will work on Androïd to

I have here a 2N Helios IP Vario door intercom collecting dust on a shelve :-( (A worth of € 980,- exclusive the extra's I ordered, like a

weather protective casing and the extra relay-board). If Fibaro would have removed the remark that the plugin also works on Android

(as I asked them before) I would never have bought this very expensive door intercom.

Just removing a part of a sentence could save people € 980,- AND a lot of frustration!

Agreed

Yes i dont get the "secret thing" either, or are you just expected to know?

The UK site has some great stuff but its like the instruction budget at Fibaro all got used up and that was that.

You would think on the HCs after the wizard finished on set up could have the option of "new user" mode and some additional infomation

might pop up as you start using the system or at least link you to some.

Elearning section is done well but there are some large advanced user information gaps going on.

Thanks for the pointer. I've never seen this e-learning site before at

Please login or register to see this link.

 !

Sadly trying to "browse courses" results in a "Too Many Redirects" error in Chrome.

@Jamie mccrostie I assume i need to "browse courses" to find the HC2 section you mentioned ? DO you have a direct url or do i need to be logged in ?

Created a new user account for e-learning first before trying to browse and got in. Dug through the course and found the access control info.

Why is this stuff not promoted / communicated better / by email to long time users, i wonder?

The access control info can be found at
