Wall Plug - Still no custom icon, why?

An issue has been sent in with a desire to be able to change the wall plug icon, for me this is has huge WAF. Right now, the washer, coffee maker, and all the lamps has the same icons in HC2 (the wall plug icon) which makes it hard to distinguish.

Nothing has happened with the issue in a couple of months, doesn't anyone else want this? It should be an easy thing to fix..

Please note that one of the main futures of Fibaro Wall plug is energy consumption measurement.

The module is designed to indicate the energy usage with different colors both on the plug and in the interface.

This is the reason why you cannot change the icon. This functionality would no longer be possible with customized icon.

I think we need to push harder to change this policy..... I do not believe that any one can memorize the colors of power consumption and any way there is a numeric value of the reading, so who needs the annoying colors on the icon!?

I could be a bit slow, but I don´t understand Fibaro´s point. I thought we had this type, or similar, indication/change in icon appearance also for dimming of lights

Hi,

I think they (Fibaro) can make it easy - allow us to change the icones as it is for normal switches and than add bar on the side (which is located on top of our icon) to indicate power consumption by color (as it is done by ring in actual Wall Plug device). We can agree to get smaller area for our icons.

Than idea from Fibaro will be presented and we (users) are happy to get possibility to see our icons with status of it (On or Off).

 

Hops so somebody from Fibaro is reading it and finally made it as we suggest.

The feature is nice. But it should be an OPTION if user actually does want to use it. Many times it is not even clear if the device is on or off, and it is hard to recognize the right device from list of devices. It's not that intuitive as they think.

I am using wall plug for standing lamp and this would be great. I am not sure that my post will help after 2 years but i must try.

That answer makes sense, if you want to monitor consumption!

I only want to use it as an on/off switch.

I don't think it will help to request this option at forum or either at bugzilla.

 

Few minutes ago I have sent this request to fibaro support, may be if more users will open same case at support they will listen to the voice of the customer.

At least they will need to provide a written answer to us, till now there is no response from them over few years!

Looks like Fibaro will not change this, here is support's reply

 

We understand that it would be very useful feature to customize icon for this device.

Unfortunately at present there are no plans to change this in the future.

I forwarded your request again to our R&D department but I can’t promise any change in this matter.

in re to that: there are: dimmers, Virtual Device's 5 button states or even slider's state changes to which you should upload mulple icons.

plus you know you can have a light ring around the icon yes? it should not be all that complicated to add that particullar effect

offcourse the better solution is to read the text below which states the consumption.
