@Lode

I think you're mistaking a statement of facts and an opinion as a complaint. I'm not complaining about anything, I'm simply saying that having paid well over £1,000 on a product, it's disappointing and somehow commercially wrong to find it appears to be not quite ready for the general market. Like probably many others on here I have a comprehensive Sonos setup and have no problems at all. I just updated to the new software version which is enhanced, probably has bug fixes, but crucially works flawlessly first time. No Beta, no roll back, no anything but automatically download, load and run.

Just to clarify at no point did I say this was unique to Fibaro, and am sure there are many other manufacturers out there with similar issues. However, as I said this equipment is fitted in Spain and I live in the UK so when it goes wrong it is a huge problem for me, which is why it is such an issue.

I used an analogy with a car, because if you bought a brand new BMW, and when you got it home the electric windows didn't work, you wouldn't expect BMW to say "oh yeah we know about that, that's being fixed in the next software update, but we're not telling you when that is". However, it seems to me this is the accepted norm with Fibaro and that is simply and undeniably wrong.

The point of my original post was to pass on my opinion, as I'm sure you will agree I am entitled to, but also to say that if Apple enter this exact market, then Fibaro seriously need to resolve all their issue poste haste as they will be subject to just about the stiffest competition possible. Large (very large) organisations like Apple very rarely have issues relating to something they know about because of the damage commercially it would cause. They test products extensively before release and with the exception of issues which are unforeseen or subject of a hack or other means, generally work and updates are usually "minor" bug fixes or enhancements. It seems to me that every release of HC2 software is just fixing things which didn't work in the previous one, adding another thing that doesn't work and then fixing that in the next release.

I know we don't live in a perfect world, but I don't think paying large sums of money for a product and expecting it work out of the box is anything to do with living in a perfect world..........is it!!?

Chin up, hopefully next version will be here soon...........Fibaro..........any news?????

@topolino,

I don't have in depth knowledge of consumer law, but I write commercial trade contracts for a living, and for me I would say Fibaro are treading very close to line of the UK legal system's definition of misrepresentation.

At best some of the product glossies are a bit naughty as they portray a finished and market ready product. However, to demonstrate misrepresentation it would be necessary to prove deliberate attempts to mislead purchasers in to believing it is something it isn't. In my opinion some information I have seen and read is very very close to this.

Thing is for me I really do like the product and believe the potential is superb. The HC2 interface is sensational, so I am willing Fibaro to sit up, listen, sort their house out and smash the market with something which is hard to beat without going to commercial systems like Crestron.

Not nice that in the equivalent discussion on the Polish forum there are comments about deliting messages against Fibaro. (Thanks Google translate).

Fibaro would be better of learning from customers rather than silencing them.

waveuk, where you see "silencing"?

Do not install Fibaro So either remove the threads on Alfa - or start a forum closed for "Alfatesterów" not indexing it in google and other search engines. Yours

I agree with the marketing point of view.

however, I find a feasible deleting threads because then the

discussion will move to other forums and Fibaro be accused

of hiding the truth.

believe with much better is the producer allows you to write about the good

and bad sides of As. My opinion it and at the turn of the year Fibaro belted out a lot Ukatualnien as something did not work this quickly changed. Suddenly released alpha and a lot of people poinstalowala judging and any faults will be repaired quickly, which, however, did not happen. Fibaro and I should nevertheless as soon as possible release a patch I do not do this error more. Do not let the Alfa for all but only for a group of people registered as alpha testers. Alfa also taught users and should not be installed, and many people probably already this error does not commits.

------------------------------------------------------

I am saying I am not happy with such comments and that Fibaro will be better of not following such ideas. And even better addressing customer feedback.

Most of the comments on this threath are not about the Alfa but the promises on the stable versions promised for a while in marketing materials.

google translator not always is a friend

Please login or register to see this code.

So Fibaro should remove alpha treat - or will move them to section only for "alpha users" w/o indexing in google and other browser

and that discussion is about to "remove topic with alpha or move to other section where normal user will dont saw them because now when he ill saw all bugs he will think that Fibaro got o a lot of bugs"

for sure that was a users idea to hide that alpha treat

I'm looking forward to the "Smart film" of Aeon Labs, they're advertising about it for more then a year now, look at their websit......"Coming soon".....

Lode, I don't see how Aeon Labs' Smart Film compares to what Fibaro is doing.

If Aeon had charged a fortune for some semitransparent plastic to stick on your windows that didn't change in opacity until they release some update at some unknown time in the future, that would be exactly what Fibaro is doing.

What's the difference ?????

The difference is that they haven't made you believe it would work now to make you buy it, and then told you to wait for as long as they decide.

It is very disappointing they don't even care to provide feedback.

Is v4 something that will happen soon or is just another piece of marketing?

I gotta agree with the rest here, im more and more dissapointed in this unit and software, lots of things are buggy or not working and support either doesnt reply or it takes ages to get something done. Software is way behind and Im feeling like selling it all and switching brands soon.

Not sure if this is a threat to make Fibaro do something, or something else? If there is a brand that is as good or better than Fibaro is today in the same price range, then please share with us.But if it is just a comment without any real weight behind it, I am not sure what it is contributing here, instead of giving this forum a negative attitude.

And I mean this in the best way, I think they are working very hard but are indeed not where they want and should be quite yet. If we look at Vera, Zipato and homewizard for instance. They all have something good, but are still miles behind on usability, features and performance.

If we take a look at what Fibaro has accomplished this year on features and support, it is quite a list. So could we try to find a way to help them get a focus on thing that matter? For instance a customer suggestions panel. Where we can add/vote for features or device support. In that way they get a real sense of what is most important for the customer.

Complaining for everything isn't a solution.

An, at least, rough schedule would help though. Specially for those of us who are distributing FIBARO products. Is difficult to manage customer spectations without a schedule.

Appart from that that FIBARO is, by far, the best solution in HA in its price tag.
