RGBW in input/output does not show as lights

Question

Posted

Hi everyone! I am new to Fibaro (and home automation in general) but so far I really like what I see!

If I may use your collective expertise - I have couple RGBW controllers that I use to control LED strips (white only) around the house. Since I don't have any color LEDs, I use the controller in the input/output mode to control several strips from one unit. This works perfectly except that now the light does not show under lights in the mobile app.

I have to go to "rooms" - "bedroom" in the mobile app to see the light and control it.

Is there a way to clasify the outputs as lights so that they show up properly?

Thanks!

Jan

You need to go and edit each of four devices and on advanced tab change option "Controlled device" from "Other device" to "Lighting" and then they will show in Lighting section of your mobile app.

Thanks! Not sure how I missed that!

And while I'm here: do you happen to know what ports I need to forward to allow the mobile app/web interface to control the system from outside?

To connect to Fibaro box from outside the house you need to make account on

Please login or register to see this link.

and register your HC with serial number. In mobile app put your account username and password in "Remote access" part of the Settings. With browser you first connect to home.fibaro.com and then there you will have your HC box listed on which you have to click and connect. It will ask you your local admin account password for that.

I did that. Still, I can't connect from the outside. I see the controller when I log in to home.fibaro.com, but then I get "no communication with the main controller" when I hover the mouse over the gears icon next to the HC name. :( The iPhone app times out when trying to connect from the outside.
