    I can't say I have heard a lot of complaints about the S1 input... and I've been around for a while. Also, The inputs are well protected, so changes of accidental damage are slim. So I'd concentrate on the switch and the wiring. Would it be possible to test the relay with just a small bit (a few meters) of wire/cable and a different switch? Just to rule out a damaged relay?

    I'd have to get another switch to test that one out unfortunately.  I will see what I can find and report back!

    I should mention that when testing the connections on the switch, it works as intended

    the momentary switch is extremely temperamental.

    @Evostance

    Hi, I have experience with a different make but similar type of external/waterproof momentary switch and never found i reliable. I put it down to the fact that the switch does not 'spring' back the same way a standard indoor momentary switch does and I found this confused the HC2. I agree with @petergebruers if you could try a standard momentary switch (or even a toggle switch with (parameter 14 set accordingly), it may help isolate the issue to the switch or another part of your setup.
