frozen hc2

Hello, got a bit of a problem for the last few days my HC2 running (latest update) has been frozen. ive power cycled it, held the off button, and ive just go @ services starting. When i came home I had the 4 lights on ( from the right) after turning off the power ive now got the same 4 lights on but its just sat doing nothing., has anyone got any ideas?

also if i have to  press the reset button on the back,will that scrub all the devices and setting?

Sorry to hear you're having an problem with your HC2.

Have you tried the usual things like clearing browser cache or trying a different browser and trying to access the web UI then

Were you doing anything when it froze ?

 

There is a good compilation post on the steps for s recovery and backup restore if you want to go that route

It explains recovery and then choice and impact

Hi thanks for answering.  I've tried different  browsers,phone, tablet and computer. Haven't tried Web ui but will give it a go. Im not totally sure when it packed up but I wa'snt doing aby thing to it. I'd just (day or so before) got a scene working  by Sankotronic.. Main scene for time based events control v 1.2.5 ( amazing programming.. it's wonderful.

it won't have anything to do with that cause it'd had been working with that scene for about 3days. Now it just won't get out of the blue screen of death...

would like to try and avoid wiping it cause ive got about 40 dices all wired in and it'll b a total pain to have to reinstall then all.. flash back to the days of win 95 lol.

do you think a scrub is my only choice?.. suppose it's a bit of extreme house cleaning lol

lets not go scrubbing just yet

 

Try and log in using the web UI and let us know what you can see there

 

EDIT...

I meant to ask if the HC2 appears dead or if some of your scenes might be working that you can tell without being able to log in

Tell Web ui doesn't work. Can't connect. No scenes are working. Lights work if they're connet to a light switch but the ones that are just run by a scene won't work

It sounds like it's frozen or crashed.

Do you havehave a recent backup you could resrestore to ?

If the fourth diode from the right lights all the time, then you probably have problems with a device.

The Z-Wave network works at 100% to communicate with a problem unit (own experience).

Try to disconnect wall plugs and other devices one at a time. When the fourth diode goes out, you probably have found the cause of the problem.

It can also be a scene that has run out of control. It will be harder to solve since you can not access your controler.

thanks. strange thing, spoke to tech at fibaro uk today and he said kill all the house breakers and see if they make a differance. so turned them all off and ...wow its come back to life.. well sort of ive got into the screen but its now frozen in the UI. i might just do some house cleanign and reinstall everything and set it all up again.

well i bit bit the bullet and rest it all. Ive updated now adding all the devices again.. thought a bit of spring cleaning would help get rid of some niggles ive got with it..but one of the niggles has come straight back. ive some led dimmable lights in my hall way with a dimmer bypass on as theres only 2 of them. so the problem ive had before thats still there is that you slick the light switch and they flash on then off again, second time you flick them they stay on. the bathrooms and landing have the same lights. the bathroom( 4 lights + dimmer bypass) used to have the same problem. its not added to the system yet but the dimmer 2 is still wired in and its working ok. the landing ( 4 lights + dimmer bypass)  has 4 lights ( is added to the system) and is normally fine. 

any ideas any one?

I'm with @RH_Dreambox on this one 

It's likely a device but best to rule out scenes and virtual device as tgat is easier.

Do you have any scene or vd controlling the lights.. if so copy /export off hc2 and see if this helps the issue 

 

After that i'd suggest disabling power to each dimmer in turn and see if the issue goes away

thanks, ive reset everything back to square one and have started with blank sheet. gonna take a while to get everything back on....oh well lol
