controling philips hue lights

hello all. Ive got some hue bulbs, Im trying to control them with a simple scene from a dimmer 2 scene activation but cant get it to work. Does anyone have any easy ways of turning them on/off from a dimmer 2.

Thanks, i aready use these great vds by Sankotronic. What im trying to do is get the code so when you click a light switch controlled by a dimmer 2 it turns on of off the hue bulb, same as it would if it was a normal bulb.

Make a scene with sceneActivation that will be triggered by dimmer 2 switch and then in scene check status of the dimmer and set HUE lamps accordingly. How to set up dimmer 2 parameters to enable scene activation you can find on

Which version of HUE VD are you using? To turn Off HUE light using VD you can use this functions:

Hi all,

even though this is a few weeks ago, I just wanted to share how I solved this:

 

I also have a dimmer 2 in my kitchen and three Hue color bulbs connected to it. 

I setup the dimmer 2 parameter 29 "S1 operates as S2..." so that way you can leave S1 switched on (with "real" load) and the bulbs are actually switched by S2.

Then I created a Scene that waits for S2 input and either switches the 3 bulbs on or off.

 

Why did I do that?

For several reasons: 

Alarms scenes (or notification Scenes with lights) are easy to setup

Using Alexa for switching on the lights is easier, if you do not need to remember the name of the switch.

 

Cons:

I takes up to 2 seconds before the light is actually switched on or off, once you have gotten used to it, it doesn't matter anymore.

 

However:

I am still curious how others have solved the problems of Hue light connected to a momentary/toggle switch...

I have single and double switch 2's behind all my light switches, which are all Hue light bulbs connected to traditional momentary/toggle switches. I'm still trying to figure  but how to keep a "connection" to the bulbs so I don't get the annoying error from my Google home that says "the hue bulb I am trying dim, etc is unavailable at the moment.". Is their a fix for this issue that can keep some type of connection so they are always reachable?

To have permanent connection to HUE bulbs they should be always powered, so if you use wall switch to turn them off then they will be unreachable for HUE bridge (and HC2) until are powered back on by flipping the switch. Also, when they are powered off by switch, when powered back on they always turn on at 100% brightness and warm white color or better say yellowish what in my case is unacceptable.

 

So, how to control them with relay (switch) module or dimmer?

 

Switch 2 and dimmer 2 modules have ability to activate scenes. What you need to do is to enable this feature that is by default disabled by setting parameter 28 for dimmer 2 or parameters 28 & 29 for switch 2.

 

Relay modules don't have ability to activate scenes. You can still make scene that will be triggered by relay module property.

 

Of course since I'm using my VSL™ scene to control all our lights I don't need to use any wall switches at all.

@Sankotronic thank you for the pointers! I just updated those two parameters you mentioned, 28 and 29. im actually in the very beginning steps of setting up your VSL™ VD. it's just quite a bit overwhelming, being i have Zero experience in LUA and only a few months ago i moved over from the Zipato z-wave hub.  

 

there is still many things i am still unaware of concerning the power and possibilities that the HC2 can do.

yes, all my lighting modules are single and double switch 2's.  great! i'll take a look at the Switch 2 trigger Scene and start with it these evening.
