Does anyone know when the HomeKit Version is available for purchase in Europe/Germany? I would really like to get some radiator thermostats for this winter.

I do not know about Homekit version. But Fibaro just released wall plug for Homekit. So I guess Heat Controller will be soon released.

The Heat Controller for Fibaro has been released!

And it works  like a charm

What a beautiful piece of hardware. How is the room learning function? On the product site fibaro states that the radiator head will scan the room to adjust accordingly. Can you share any experiences?

Hi @krmkrx, I just installed it this afternoon. So I don't have any new data at the moment. I have to wait how it's reacting the coming days.

Hi @TRicky

  • where did you buy your thermostat?
  • I hope the ring doesn’t stay green all the time?
Posted

Hi @Sjekke,

The thermostat will be available very soon, I just had some luck ;)

And no, the ring is normally off. Just when you touch it, it glows and the color depends on the temperature that is set.

Hi @TRicky,

What is your opinion on the sound of thermostat, when it operates? Since i have Danfoss LC-13 and Fibaro TRV in front of me, i can say i like sound of the Danfoss more.

Hi @jakub.jezek,

Upto last week I only used the Danfoss LC-12  valves.

I have to say the Danfoss valves are more quiet than the Fibaro TRV valves. But......

The better response (Z-Wave Plus), the great design and the fact they (can have) a external temperature sensor which give them a much better overall room temperature control

is more important then only these few moments they have to react (and produce more noise) than a Danfoss valve.

I think all my Danfoss valves will be on E-Bay as soon as I can get more of the Fibaro TRV's!

The only problem I have is that about 90% of my heating is by floor heating;  in that case a controlled valve isn't that useful anymore. :(

But for some other rooms I would love to install them.

Cheers,

Rick

Hi @TRicky,

I could not agree more. For now, Fibaro TRVs is number 1 choice.

But i would like to know how it will work compared to new Danfoss TRV (will be next year). They will be FLIR an Z-Wave plus too, but without external temperature sensor.

Jakub

Hi @jakub.jezek,

I didn't hear that yet. Let's wait and see.

But, as mentioned, the external temperature sensor is really a great plus!

Let's see what the Z-Wave future will bring us ;)

my cats love them, that's important ... and yeah, don't forget the manual (scheduled) mode, no more issues anymore with heating plans vs. manual value.

Hi @tinman,

I wrote "For now", because i would like to compare Fibaro TRV with Danfoss ECO TRV (with Z-Wave) first.

That schedule/manual mode in the TRV is fine. And about that issue with heating plans vs. manual mode. We still have many stubborn clients, that wants thermostat on the wall, so we still encountering that issue.

Also it is great, that you can create heating panel directly from app, when you include Fibaro TRV into a system via Mobile (i did not tested Tablet, yet).

Hi @TRicky@jakub.jezek

Today I use the Nest Thermostat V3 for heating and hot water.

  1. If I replace the Nest with Fibaro Thermostats, how do I activate my burner? Do I use a Fibaro switch.
  2. Is it possible to use a "warm water plan" or must it be programmed by a scene.

All your idea's are welcome.

Although I am not @TRicky  and not @jakub.jezek, I have been using Z-Wave thermostats for years and I have shared my opinion on several occasions.

One question... Many answers... It depends on what kind of heating system you have (already have TRV on all radiators? Use underfloor heating? Outdoor sensor? And more...).

Here are my favorite topics:

In this topic you said you commented on NEST integration:

Hi @Sjekke,

Burner activation:

If you have only radiators, then i would use only TRVs to heat as @petergebruers suggest in following topic:

If you have some underfloor heating, then we recommend Heatit or Nest, but it depends on users choice.

If you are one of those people, that wants on-wall thermostat. Then you should make linked device with Fibaro Switch and primary temp. sensor for the room and since no Nest plug-in (yet), than i believe you have to connect output from HeatLink (if we talking about Nest) to Fibaro Switch 2 (more usable for people with HCL), to S1 input, so Heatlink, can trigger Fibaro switch.

If you are brave enough, then you could try to integrate Nest thermostat into HC2 as VD and use it Heating panel (integration to HP via Fibaro REST API). Nest api:

About that warm heat plan:

I would do it via HC probably. I know that a customer of mine mentioned that he is using VD to keep water warm, if this is answer for your question.

Best regards,

Jakub

Hi @petergebruers @jakub.jezek

Thanks for the feedback. I will read all your information tomorrow (home working :) )

Prologue :

  • I only have radiators with "analoge" TRV's.
  • The Nest is situated in the living room.
  • Burner is ON/OFF

This was my idea

  • Replace all "analog" TRV's by Fibaro ones.
  • Use the included temperature sensor per room where heating is needed.
  • Don't use the Nest anymore, go for full Fibaro
  • Use a Dual Really Switch 2 for activating the burner and hot water

But as I said ... I didn't read all the info yet.

Many thanks.

Can anyone provides my screenshots of the app interface when using the thermostat? For example heat schedule, settings options, etc.?

Hi @krmkrx,

Here are some screenshots of setpoint (desired temperature) settings.

1st screenshot: Fibaro TRV running in week shedule mode.

2nd screenshot: Going from week schedule to manual mode.
