Thanks for your advise about trying alternatives!

I am very serious about that... If you are going to invest several thousands of euros to get some real automation, then I'd do more research. I also assume, you are going to use this system for several years. Maybe 5? Maybe 10 years? And believe me: after investigating alternatives, some leave and never come back... But also quite the opposite...  some return to Fibaro HomeCenter!

This is getting bit of topic... But if you are consider the "time drift" and "display issues in the variable panel" (both very annoying and very real) you might find this topic interesting:

I run 4.180 on 100 physical devices. I am happy with it...

Yes, it is getting off-topic. I've stuck to the time drift problem and the minor bug of Global Parameter field size on purpose to prove my point (i.e. shoddy craftmanship from Fibaro).

I am currently running 2 PIR-sensors, two door sensors and on wall switch. The door sensors seem to work fine, but the PIR sensors suffer from very annoying false triggers that are definitely caused by a system software bug (nothing done about it so far, of course). and I hear from a good friend and very experienced Fibaro user that v4.180 all of a sudden causes a wall plug to behave faulty... So I'm not happy with it. I've spent a lot of time to circumvent these PIR sensor bugs and because of all that, the system functions sub-optimal. The new bug in 4.180 causes me not to upgrade, because I use the wall plug to control my entire home network.

Hiram K. Hackenbacker, please stay in the Fibaro community and keep on being critical. Continue giving advice based on your experience and skills - just keep it polite and constructive:)

@japasu: I'll certainly try to keep it polite, but it is hard to do that if one gets the strong impression that nothing is done by Fibaro with all the good information that users share at this forum. For instance, to stay on topic, it would be so nice and generating lots of positive feelings towards Fibaro if with the next release:

1) the HC2 syncs with NTP at regular intervals, let's say once per hour or once per day, and

2) if a manual time setting is chosen, the HC2 would actually set the time to this setting (instead of rebooting and syncing to NTP), calculates the difference with GMT, and keeps in sync using NTP and the calculated time difference at the time of setting.

3) If the HC2 does all af the above without the completely unnecessary reboot.

If I were a programmer with Fibaro, I could implement AND test the above functionality between Friday lunch and the Friday afternoon vodka.

I’m running 4.170, my HCLite loses about a minute a week.  The only way I have found to force a time server poll is to change time servers and save that setting which forces a reboot.  After the reboot, time is set correctly.

Tech support admits this is a known problem, why it’s not a simple fix perplexes me.

I changed my time server to the one of my Internet provider more then a month ago. I don't have any timedrift.

Is this actually a solution to the time sync problem? It sounds to to good to be true for a major issue like this...

The only thing I can say is that I don't have timedrifts. Maybe I'm lucky ...

I am guessing the time sync problem depends on what kind of scenes we have running and how often we program and save.

Anyways, it seem like the time sync is actually being carried out only when starting Home Center.

I share the opinion from others that this really should be a priority to fix and should not be to hard if you are a programmer.

A system built for automation without time sync is not a good idea.

Fully agree, my observations are exactly the same.

If you are lucky, and experience no HC freezes or bugs, you may be online a few weeks and 100% go our of sync with minutes.

@sonnyboy , thanks for the screen shot.

The new system fixes the time drift - at least we did not experience any drifts during weeks of tests.

Hopefully, you will not experience them either any more :P

I'll try your solution with my provider's ntp server. hope it works :) I'll inform you later.

    Hi,

I've added my local ntp server but it still does not synchronize. After 15 days I have a 7 minutes gap with time server. It shouldn't be to hard to sync with ntp server. Come on fibaro you can do it ;)

Fixed in firmware 4.503 for HC2, so I guess you are running an older FW. I do not recommend this update if you are not familiar with the risks of upgrading, especially because it is a "beta" and some users already reported issues. It is also difficult to go back to the older FW. You might be aware af all this, I do not want to underestimate you. I just saw you are rather new to the forum so I cannot know what you already know...

Older firmware 4.1xx, I believe it has been posted across many threads, it only sync time during boot. If a HC2 has not been rebooted for extended period of time, time drifts (confirmed with another HC2 of customer which I help to manage occasionally).

How old is your HC2? More than 3 years?

Yes my HC2 is older than 3 years. I'm always up to date with the latest firmware. Fibaro time was out of sync since version 4.510.. I've updated my HC2 to 4.510 yesterday. I hope the problem is solved in this version. Will update after testing it...

@Arduino , @kphhome , how big is the drift? Can you show me screen shots or anything that I can forward to the team that will show the difference?

It's solved with the latest version. No more drifts. Thanks.
