Intercom communication with Home center

I am reading through the intercom manual and still there are some things not clear to me:

The intercom does not support the Zwave, how does it communicate with the Home center?
Is it possible to control a gate via an actor and not with the internal intercom relays?

if not what's the benefit to have it installed together with a Fibaro installation?
