Question

Posted

Hi,

I have HC3 which have random reboots with following notification "The system recovered from an unexpected error".
I searched and I founf that this was promised
to be solved by Fibaro at sw version 5.120. I am now on version 5.130.64, but still getting this problem with random rebooting.

Is there anything I can do to resolve ??

    @m.roszak
Regarding this issue, last "random" reboot for my HC3 was 3 days ago, before that it used to crash and reboot 2~3 times a day.
Nothing changed to be stable for 3 days now except the following, I noticed that it is giving wrong value for number of zwave devices. It is showing "0" there.

When it was crashing multible times a day, It was giving the correct number of z-wave devices (around 70 device).

I understand that maybe it is just a bug regarding counting devices and has nothing to do with crashing, but just giving you what I can see. plz check attached picture.

Guys, if anyone who has "stable" hc3 can confirm ??

I don't have any reboots. I have always the latest beta or stable versions.

I transferred my entire config to a backup HC3 I had laying around, there is a chance this might solve the issues.
    I really hope so.
    I'll report back my findings.

Why do you think it's a hardware problem?

At least for me it was the hardware. After replacing the old HC3 by a new one I did not have any crash (for more than 4 weeks, before I had them every second day)

I wonder if you restore a backup on the same device after factory-default it, also does the trick.

I think it's hard to believe that so many people suffer from hardware failures. If it is hardware, than Fibaro has a big problem.....

I have done a factory reset numerous times already on my first HC3 and that helps for a few days maybe.

On the other hand it might explain why Fibaro/Nice went silent on this and just removed the error message. They might suspect hardware issues and not wanting to replace them under warranty by keeping us in the dark and waiting for a fix until warranty is over.

I just hope this fixes my issues because I am done with them.

No, this did not help for me

    So far so good.
    But still very early.

After reading the release notes of the 5.141 Beta they returned the error message:

    Quote

    Other
Added a notification for automatic system restore in case of instability.

Still running fine on the new HC3.
Seems like this is hardware related.
I have added the old HC3 as a gateway with no devices, but still than it has reset already 1 time in a week time.

Apparently they didn't give up yet, m.roszak send me a PM after my messages, and said they did solve 90% of the causes for this issue and where working on the last 10%.

Mine is in those last 10%.
They claim they do have the solution for the last 10% as well.

They where stress testing that solution according to them.

They modified my broken HC3 and it's in for a long test to see if things have become stable now.
I have it again configured as a Slave gateway with nothing on it.
And I will report back regularly if things are stable now.

So my new HC3 started to show the same behavior as my old, and starting to reboot/loose network connection for a few minutes.
I have asked Fibaro to apply the same fix as my old HC3 to test and see if that solves the problem too.
