HC3 - wall plug mesh integration / use as repeater

Question

Posted

Hi, I have a number of Fibaro Z-WAVE devices integrated with HC3. As the RoutingInfo script shows, all devices are directly connected to the Main Center, despite there are 3 Fibaro Wall plugs in the system but it seems, none of these is used as Repeater. One of those is located physically between the Center and some smoke sensors, but again, the WP repeater is not used. The smoke sensor furthest away from the Center is not connecting to the Center, but that wall plug would be actually very close (but is not used as repeater by the sensor). Is there a way to get the distant sensors to use the wall plug repeater or to force it somehow? May also be that there is a parameter, which I need to set - but I have not found one yet.

Thank you for your help.

You cannot force the z-wave route, but did you try to reconfigure the mesh network of that device?

Well, not sure how that works. I do not want to completely reconfigure the entire network (all new IDs, etc) under Setting->Z-Wave->Reconfigure all devices, but I suppose I should be able to only reconfigure a single device. Would you reconfigure the wall plug or the sensor not working?

Is the single reconfig directly in the single device settings and if so, the master or the slave? Sorry for asking these questions, but I am still reasonably new to the topic and do not want to mess it up further .... :-)

    Many thanks!

No, you should use menu item  „Reconfigure Mesh Network“ and select the device in question.

Ahm, .... where do I find that menu item please? I am using the Browser based admin access to the HC3 (although German version). Thanks!

If it is an battery powered device, make sure you wake it up.

Then you are on the beta version of the Z-wave engine.

Well, I am using the official HC3 FW release (5.170.16). There is no indication, if the Z-Wave version (shows as v4.33) is beta or release. Anything I can do here? Many thanks!

You can see the Z-wave engine version like in this post:

I don't think there is much you can do. You could do a fresh re-install of your HC3 to get the stable Z-Wave engine 2.0. Then you will get the Z-wave mesh reconfigure back.

Thanks Eddy, that may clarify the issue. Checked with Swagger and it indeed says ZwaveEngineVersion 3.0. The versions I am using were pre-installed, if I recall correctly, when I unpacked the device 2 months ago.... :-(   #crap

It isn't the end of the world. The beta engine can run ok.

With 16 devices (save all quickapps, scenes, settings, etc). you could do a factory reset and re-install with the 2.0 engine. Sooner but probably later the Z-Wave 3.0 engine will be the stable version. We don't know for sure if upgrading from 2.0 to 3.0 will still need a factory reset en re-install also.

Well, its also a big number of Elero shutters (which were a bit of a pain to get set-up initially) and Zigbee devices, etc. I'd like to avoid a complete re-do. Hm...

You can just stay the beta engine. Maybe try to exclude en include the one device to force it to the Wall Plug.
