Question

Posted

Hi all, I’m new to the FIBARO ecosystem and need some help connecting some existing third party modules.  The house I recently moved into has a number of Environexus Nero-Relay and Nero-Dim modules wired in the wall behind the switch plates.  Problem is that the previous owner took the gateway with them.  I have opted to use the HC3 Lite which I was led to believe should connect to the existing relay and dimmer modules (all z-wave based).  From what I have been able to find on the internet, I should just be able to press the sync button on the relay for >3sec (or toggle the connected switch 3 times) after putting the HC3 in inclusion mode and the controller should connect to the module.  It never does, the inclusion mode timer just times out and prompts to retry.

Has anyone had any experience with these modules?  The company has ceased operations

thanks in advance for any help

Module can be added to one network only and cannot be added again without factory reset or exclusion, did you try this first?

I tried excluding one on the HC3 - after the inclusion failed- but got the same result (nothing found, retry).  There doesn’t seem to be a way to factory reset the module and since I don’t have the original controller, this is pretty much all I can see to do

    Just to check :D

You have to set the hc3l in exclusuion and then on the nero relay hit the button 5 times or 6 sec. And the hc3l controller shuld say exluscion complete or somthing.

Then wait a minute or 2 and start the inclusion on the gateway and hit the button 3 times or 2sec and you should see the device getting added 🤔

This have to be done on all devices you want to add to a new gateway.

Yeah that’s what I have been trying but I don’t see any messages on the console apart from entering exclusion/inclusion mode.  I wonder could it be that other devices on the old network are preventing the exclusion process?

Good question, I just assumed all z-wave devices in Australia used the same frequency.  They have “Integrated Radio Module: 921,42MHz” on them.  The 921 seems right but I don’t know about the 42

That is the right frequency, but 919,8 MHz can also be used in Australia.

Ok, so I got the exclusion working.  Restarting the HC seems to have done the trick 😊

Now I’m starting to include the modules again and the Dimmer modules include ok, but the relay modules come up with inclusion failed and suggests I factory reset or exclude and try again.  I’ve excluded a couple of similar modules a couple of times but still no joy adding them.  I have however added a couple more of the sam,e type module without issue 😩

Strange thing is, for the ones that fail inclusion, it seems to have partially added them.  Two devices (for each relay module) come up on the device list - one “other”, the second one as a “light” - and I can operate the light (on the latter device) by clicking on the icon.  Further to this if I do a soft reconfiguration it hides the "other" device but the "light" remains "not configured"
