Remotec Z-Wave ZXT-120 IR Extender for Air Conditioners

Question

Posted

There have been repeated requests for HC2 support for this device, bugzilla posts and even a sample sent to Fibaro (thanks Johnny C in NZ).

Yes, you can use other IR devices (eg iTach) to learn and transmit IR codes, but the Remotec is pre-programmed with many popular A/C units and is battery powered. Simply installed with no wiring! Have been using these with Vera to great success for a year or so now.

+1 if you want HC2 support now!

You need to set the ZXT-120 in always listening mode - that means to have it connected to a 5v power supply and the mode changed from the default FliRS.  Then the device will be polled and updated. And only then.

Thanks for the answer, but this option does not suit me, because my device is powered by batteries and not on the power network, if you switch the mode FLIRS constantly listening mode, the batteries are quickly sits down and they have to be changed frequently. I need an option to send commands to the device on a schedule (eg once every hour) which forces the device to send the temperature in FLIRS mode.

well i'm sorry but this is the only way you can poll the device. On battery mode it will work fine but the temperature sensor will be useless

I only use them on PC / Iphone and Ipad.  And yes it does show all options on Iphone and Ipad - if by options you are referring to temp, fan speed and mode.  Try do a reload network settings from the Ipad.

I believe the options of ZXT-120 only appears under Room | Devices on iPad's interface while it appears differently on the iPhone's interface. Right?

On Iphone appears both under Rooms and under Climate. I'll check later where exactly is on Ipad.

Indeed on the iPhone.

On the Ipad it shows at rooms and at the temperature shortcut from the top bar.

Bump this thread...

ZXT-120 v1.6H and before works fine on HC2 v.4082 and before.

ZXT-120 v1.7 and v1.8 are not supported and not working properly in HC2 v4.082 and below.

Check out some discussion posts from this post (link below) onwards between Momos, myself and Fibaro:

Update for those who uses ZXT-120.

ZXT-120 v1.7 and v1.8 are reporting as version 1.20 in z-wave and have the following difference as compared to v1.6H and before:

  • Reporting Temperature and Battery Level at every set/get z-wave command
  • Difference between v1.7 and v1.8 is only its IR Code database

PS: Source of Information is Remotec Support.

With HC2 4.062 Beta, it seems the ZXT-120 has a proper device template and seems to work well with inclusion and exclusion. The device template includes valuable comments on some parameter changes requiring a soft reconfiguration to allow the HC2 to update the list of supported operating modes.

Good job, Fibaro.

Lucky you.. I'm on version 4.100 and no templates or integration at all

For the auto-swing, I get this under 'Advanced' tab:

Weird... I checked all the slave devices, Advanced tab, no 'polling time interval' option.

Did you find the proper code?

I'm a bit puzzled when it comes to how this works. If I assign the ZXT to a room, will the Heating panel automatically use it to adjust the temperatur according to the schedule?
